Headsprout and Raz-Kids Have you ever wondered what is done with the money raised during PTA fundraising activities? Good question! PTA fundraising efforts provide access to resources that would otherwise be unavailable to our school and students. These resources can enrich lessons and provide new learning and play opportunities for our students.
Two such resources that we would like to highlight this month are Headsprout and Raz-Kids.
Headsprout helps early readers interact with engaging online episodes and read printable eBooks designed to instill key reading fundamentals like phonemic awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and beginning comprehension. Once readers have demonstrated a solid grasp of the basics, they move on to episodes created to teach the four primary components of reading comprehension: finding facts, making inferences, identifying themes, and learning vocabulary in context.
Raz-Kids is a comprehensive leveled reading resources for students. Kids access their leveled text through an interactive learning portal designed to keep them motivated and engaged. Every eBook is available in online and mobile formats, and allows students to listen to, read at their own pace, and record themselves reading.

|  | Art at Tiffany Park A big Thank You to our art docents who helped our kids create their own Chihuly-inspired art piece this month. We combined their individual artwork, per class, to make one cohesive art installation and hung them in the entrance of the school. The kids are loving it! We will be taking December off due to the short month and resuming lessons in January. If you would like to help our kids create art, we would love to have you. |  | Popcorn Friday in DecemberStudents can purchase popcorn for 50 cents during lunch on the following days in December: Thursday, December 1stFriday, December 9thFriday, December 16th Popcorn will resume on Fridays in January. Be on the lookout for new options such as paying for popcorn on-line, purchasing popcorn coupons so you don’t need to worry about change and purchasing popcorn for your student’s class.
