The 18th century Carrara marble chimney piece was rescued from the front drawing room at Wolfe Tone’s house at 44 Stafford St Dublin, around 1960 by the present owner.

It is estimated at €15,000-€20,000. The grate in the image is from Elizabeth Bowen’s bedroom at Bowen’s Court in Co Cork.

The iron-framed grate made around 1760-70 is estimated at €1,000-€1,500. The auction of 765 lots is on view in Castlecomer from noon to 5pm tomorrow and from 10.30am to 5pm on Monday.

An original example of the Proclamation, restored and conserved to museum standard in 2001, is estimated at €150,000-€250,000.

A bronze anchor windlass steam valve, salvaged from the Aud in 2008 is estimated at €2,000-€3,000.

Having failed to land its cargo of arms and ammunition on April 22, 1916, the Aud was scuttled outside Cork Harbour by her captain, Karl Spindler, rather than be captured by the Royal Navy warship HMS Bluebell.

There are three photographs taken on board U-19, the German submarine which brought Roger Casement to Banna Strand.

The Rising medals posthumously award to Joseph Plunkett and Thomas Clarke are estimated respectively at €70,000-€100,000 and €80,000-€120,000.
