The 18th century Carrara marble chimney piece was rescued from the front drawing room at Wolfe Tone’s house at 44 Stafford St Dublin, around 1960 by the present owner.
It is estimated at €15,000-€20,000. The grate in the image is from Elizabeth Bowen’s bedroom at Bowen’s Court in Co Cork.
The iron-framed grate made around 1760-70 is estimated at €1,000-€1,500. The auction of 765 lots is on view in Castlecomer from noon to 5pm tomorrow and from 10.30am to 5pm on Monday.
