Rogers Park Ice Skating Permission -- '21-'22
Rogers Park students will be able to ice skate on the rink during recess all winter long.

5th and 6th graders (plus anyone who can tie their own skates tightly) will be able to skate Wednesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays.

Kindergarten through 4th graders (and anyone who needs help tying skates tightly) will skate on Thursdays and Fridays -- WITH THE HELP OF PARENT VOLUNTEERS.

HELMETS ARE REQUIRED.  Students must also have a jacket and mittens/gloves.  Snowpants are strongly encouraged.

Students may borrow skates from the school if they are not otherwise able to obtain skates for their personal use.  If they have a pair at home – please use them.  That will leave more for students who don't have access to any at home.

Skates borrowed for the season may be used at school during recess and may be taken home if properly cared for and carefully returned.  Students are urged to wear helmets while skating.  Gloves/mittens, hats (no hoods), and snow gear are required.  Students and parents/guardians are responsible for returning the skates at the end of the season so we may continue to provide this service to all students at Rogers Park Elementary.

On FAMILY SKATE NIGHTS, students MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY A PARENT or GUARDIAN or they will not be allowed to skate.

Parents should complete this request ASAP.  Skates will begin to be handed out in PE classes during the week of November 29th.

HELMETS REQUIRED
Students are required to wear helmets while skating on the Rogers Park rink.  Bike helmets are okay.  If you don't have a helmet, you can get one from the Anchorage Parks and Rec department.  They're giving them away for free at the Winter Solstice Event at Cuddy Family Park on 12/21 from 5:00-8:00.

Permission
I give permission for my child to borrow ice skates and/or skate on the Rogers Park ice rink using their own skates during recess.  If they borrow school skates, I understand that they can bring these skates home on the weekends, as long as they treat them carefully and return them promptly.

I also give my child permission to participate in the Rogers Park Skate-a-Thon (more info to come in late winter).

Volunteer
The Rogers Park Recess Ice Skating program is 100% volunteer run.  We rely on parents, grandparents... to help tie skates and monitor the rink during recesses.  The season is usually early December - early March.  If you're willing to be on our parent volunteer contact list, please give us your email address and phone number so we can let you know when we need help.
