Printmaking Statement:

Painting is my primary art practice. However, as is the case for many painters, printmaking plays a crucial role in developing ideas and compositions that may become paintings, but also stands alone as a separate practice that often serves as a refuge when I’m feeling stuck or uninspired with a painting. My prints tend to be more figurative than my paintings and allow me a place to make more direct statements. As such, I’m interested in the role printmaking has played in political and social movements and I am grateful to live in Southern California, which stills feels like a hotbed of past and current printmaking.
