Dear Greenburgh Community:
There is so much to be proud of across our District! Last evening I sat among hundreds of our students and community members to cheer on the Boys Varsity Basketball team as they played in the state’s Final Four tournament. While this game marked the end of an amazing journey, I know I speak for everyone that we watched that game with our hearts and with pride. Our players and coaches have every reason to hold their heads high and celebrate the hard work they put in all season and their tremendous achievements. This postseason experience is a wonderful illustration of how commitment, teamwork, and camaraderie lead to success.
I want to recognize each and every one of the players on the team for their accomplishment and contribution to the sport, the team and thank them for what they did for us- our Greenburgh community! Thank you….

They brought all of us together in a way for the whole community to enjoy! They are Greenburgh’s winners! And while teamwork truly is at the core of this success, I want to give a special shout out for a few individuals: senior Isaiah Tufoh who earned the Sportsmanship award; sophomore Sebastian Benitez who was named MVP; Coach John Rapaport for his tireless commitment to this team; and Director of Health, PE and Athletics Mike McCoy for his ongoing leadership and efforts to make the team’s success one that the whole community could enjoy.
On Wednesday we had a great turnout for our STEAM Family Night. Across the District, we are committed to finding opportunities to engage with the community and involve parents, and it was wonderful to see so many learning about the work students are doing. What’s more, many of the stations were led by student volunteers, including several RJB students who are members of the school’s Engineering Club. These students demonstrated coding using small robots and a few even debuted video games that they created and coded themselves. Our Animal Care Club was also there with animals in tow. It may not be a surprise that the bunny received a few more pets from attendees than the bearded dragon!
I hope that you saved some energy to attend our spring musical, Newsies, which opens this evening at 7:00 pm. Performances are also tomorrow at 5:00 pm and Sunday at 2:00 pm. Tickets are available at the door, and seating is general admission. Our students, including several from RJB, have been working very hard and I am sure they will put on a great show. Break legs to all cast and crew.
Finally, I would be remiss if I did not also call out an example of what is happening in our classrooms and the creative ways in which teachers are helping students learn. For example, in our middle school, 7th graders in Ms. Weisz’s social studies classes will be giving an original performance of a song, scene, etc. on a relevant topic of their choice. This performance is based on their understanding of various primary sources and was enhanced by the visit of a HS junior who spoke to several of the 7th grade classes about her creative process. What another fabulous example of our students teaching one another and learning the skills to share information with others.
Each of the items mentioned in this letter have been featured on our website and/or social media channels. I hope you will take a few minutes to visit them for more information. For those celebrating St. Patrick’s Day this weekend, enjoy the festivities. I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Estimada Comunidad de Greenburgh:
¡Hay mucho de qué estar orgulloso en todo nuestro Distrito! Anoche me senté entre cientos de nuestros estudiantes y miembros de la comunidad para animar al equipo de baloncesto masculino varsity mientras jugaban en el torneo Final Four del estado. Mientras este partido marcó el final de un viaje increíble, sé que hablo en nombre de todos los que vimos ese partido con el corazón y con orgullo. Nuestros jugadores y entrenadores tienen todos los motivos para mantener la cabeza en alto y celebrar el arduo trabajo que realizaron durante toda la temporada y sus tremendos logros. Esta experiencia de postemporada es un maravilloso ejemplo de cómo el compromiso, el trabajo en equipo y la camaradería conducen al éxito.
Quiero reconocer a todos y cada uno de los jugadores del equipo por sus logros y contribuciones al deporte, al equipo, y agradecerles por lo que hicieron por nosotros: ¡nuestra comunidad de Greenburgh! Gracias….

¡Nos reunieron a todos de una manera para que toda la comunidad disfrute! ¡Son los ganadores de Greenburgh! Y mientras el trabajo en equipo es realmente la base de este éxito, quiero agradecer especialmente a algunas personas: Isaiah Tufoh, estudiante de último año, que obtuvo el premio a la deportividad; el estudiante de segundo año Sebastián Benítez, quien fue nombrado MVP; al entrenador John Rapaport por su incansable compromiso con este equipo; y al Director de Salud, Educación Física y Atletismo, Mike McCoy, por su continuo liderazgo y esfuerzos para hacer que el éxito del equipo sea uno que toda la comunidad pueda disfrutar.
El miércoles tuvimos una gran participación en nuestra Noche Familiar STEAM. En todo el distrito, estamos comprometidos a encontrar oportunidades para involucrarnos con la comunidad e involucrar a los padres, y fue maravilloso ver tanto aprendizaje sobre el trabajo que están haciendo los estudiantes. Es más, muchas de las estaciones fueron dirigidas por estudiantes voluntarios, incluidos varios estudiantes de RJB que son miembros del Club de Ingeniería de la escuela. Estos estudiantes demostraron codificación usando pequeños robots y algunos incluso debutaron videojuegos que ellos mismos crearon y codificaron. Nuestro Animal Care Club también estuvo allí con los animales a cuestas. ¡Puede que no sea una sorpresa que el conejito haya recibido más mascotas de los asistentes que el dragón barbudo!
Espero que hayas ahorrado algo de energía para asistir a nuestro musical de primavera, Newsies, que se estrena esta noche a las 7:00 p.m. Las funciones también son mañana a las 5:00 pm y el domingo a las 2:00 pm. Los boletos seran disponibles en la puerta y los asientos son de admisión general. Nuestros estudiantes, incluidos varios de RJB, han estado trabajando muy duro y estoy segura de que darán un gran espectáculo. Buena suerte a todo el elenco y el equipo.
Finalmente, sería negligente si no mencionara también un ejemplo de lo que está sucediendo en nuestros salones de clases y las formas creativas en que los profesores ayudan a los estudiantes a aprender. Por ejemplo, en nuestra escuela intermedia, los estudiantes de séptimo grado en las clases de estudios sociales de la Sra. Weisz presentarán una interpretación original de una canción, escena, etc. sobre un tema relevante de su elección. Esta actuación se basa en su comprensión de varias fuentes primarias y se vio reforzada por la visita de una estudiante de tercer año de secundaria que habló con varias de las clases de séptimo grado sobre su proceso creativo. Qué otro ejemplo fabuloso de nuestros estudiantes enseñándose unos a otros y aprendiendo las habilidades para compartir información con otros.
