Survey on Accessibility Challenges Faced by Visualization Creators
About the study

This study is being conducted by a team of accessibility researchers at the University of Washington. Our goal is to understand and reduce the barriers visualization creators face in making online data visualizations accessible to screen-reader users.

This survey should only take about 10 minutes of your time and your participation in this study is entirely voluntary. Your responses will help us in improving the accessibility of online data visualizations for screen-reader users.

(Screen-reader users are people who use screen readers to access digital content. These users include blind and low-vision individuals as well as users who utilize screen readers for temporary or situational needs, such as motion sickness or vestibular hypersensitivity.)

Eligibility Criteria

You must only take part in this study if:
  • You are at least 18 years old
  • You create online data visualizations (graphs, maps, etc.)
Data anonymity clause

All data collected through this survey will be kept anonymous and will not be linked to any individual. If you choose to share your contact information with us at the end of the survey, it will be kept private.

You can find more information on our projects on making online data visualizations here: https://athersharif.me/projects/VOX. If you have any questions about the study, please email us at ather@cs.washington.edu.
