World Water Day 2017
World Water Day is held annually on 22 March as a means of focusing attention on the importance of freshwater and advocating for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
An international day to celebrate freshwater was recommended at the 1992 United Nations Conference on Environment and Development (UNCED). The United Nations General Assembly responded by designating 22 March 1993 as the first World Water Day. Each year, World Water Day highlights a specific aspect of freshwater.

In Bangladesh Youth Development Program of JAAGO Foundation – “Volunteer for Bangladesh” along with Coca Cola Bangladesh have been observing this day since 2010. Every year we focused our attention towards fresh water and raise awareness through the country in different form. After conducting several workshops and campaigns we have realized the importance of educating the generation next is the most sustainable means to obtain a long term output from these workshops. Awaking and sharing knowledge among the students is the most effective tool to solve water related issues such as – preventing water borne diseases, drinking clean and safe drinking water, clean hand wash program and reduce water wastage thus implementing SDG 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation.

JAAGO Foundation, established in 2007, working towards breaking the cycle of poverty, through education and rebuilding our nation. JAAGO believes building a better society one in which every child has an access to education and youth have a platform to serve their community. JAAGO Foundation has been the pioneer in providing the youth a voice and a platform through its youth development program “Volunteer for Bangladesh (VBD). With the aim of empowering youth and facilitate volunteerism in Bangladesh VBD has opened a new era; that aims to develop a nation by reallocating skills and resources to foster self-reliance and growth in every citizen. At present with more than 25,000 registered volunteers, VBD is now actively working for the nation in 32 districts of Bangladesh n various national social awareness campaigns like Universal Children’s Day, World Water Day, World Environment Day, Great Kindness Challenge etc.
