Recycle Street
Recycle Street makes recycling easier, faster and more convenient. This initiative is a one-stop facility to recycle unwanted items when you visit the recycling centres.
How it works
Ensure you have sorted your loads before arriving at the waste and recycling centre. Drive into the centre and drop off your recyclables at Recycle Street first. Then move on to dispose of any other waste you might have.
This initiative is a self-service ‘street’. There is a colour-coded shopfront for each type of recycled waste material.
Customers using Recycle Street can identify quickly where to place their recycled goods. Each bin is clearly colour coded according to type of material, such as paint, motor oil, car batteries and hazardous chemicals.

Benefits to the community
Launched on 5 June 2018, World Environment Day, at the Helensvale Waste and Recycling Centre, Recycle Street is a pioneering project. We support it because:
- the layout of the structure makes recycling easier for customers
- customers get clear information on what they can recycle and what they cannot
- more recycling means less items end up at landfill, which extends our current landfill lifespan, thus reducing the financial burden on residents to pay for future landfill siting and construction.
