Virginia Academy student-athletes Jailyn Martin, Peter Oduro and Kylie Walbert have committed to further their education and continue their athletic careers in college.
Walbert will attend and play field hockey at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill on a full athletic scholarship. Walbert, a goalkeeper, earned selection on the 2022 USA indoor field hockey team.
Oduro has signed to continue his education and basketball career at George Mason University in Fairfax. Oduro will join his older brother Josh Oduro on George Mason's basketball team.
Martin has committed to attend and play basketball at Trinity University in Texas. Martin helped lead Virginia Academy to the 2022 VISAA Division 3 state championship.
The trio of seniors were recently honored during a signing day ceremony at the Ashburn private school.
"These students have made so many sacrifices -- sacrifices we never even see," Virginia Academy athletic director Adam Staats said during the ceremony. "Today, we get to share in their celebration of coming into the school of their choice to play a sport that they love."
