Thinking about enrolling your child into a Dual Language Immersion (DLI) program? Curious about Russian, Chinese, or Portuguese, but want to try it out first? Then check out the first TCSD Summer Learning program! This program is funded through a federal grant program called 'STARTALK' - which creates exciting summer language experiences for children. The learning program will last one week this summer (4 hours a day) at the DLI school. It is free to families, and it will provide children entering a DLI classroom in the fall a taste of their new school year and build new friendships!
Who can enroll?
Any rising 1st grader or 2nd grader (this means any child entering 1st or 2nd grade in the fall of 2019) can enroll.
Will I need to provide transportation for my child?
Yes.
Do they have to be enrolled in the DLI program before the Summer Learning Program?
No, but if necessary, preference will be given to those families who have decided to join the DLI program at the school.
What is the fee?
This is a FREE summer program for TCSD children, funded through a federal grant.
Is there a program for a language not listed here?
STARTALK is for specific languages. If the language program you are interested in is not listed, check with the DLI school to see if there is a summer program for that language.
