A Message from the president
Happy Spring SIBR!
March is a very important month for our club because at the end of the month we will be celebrating
our award winners. The Live Your Dream award is a unique education award for women who provide
the primary financial support for their families and is one of the flagship programs for Soroptimist. We
had some wonderful candidates and I can’t wait to introduce you to them and let them tell their stories.
For those of you that donated, worked, or purchased a ticket to our Bunco fundraiser – thank you! It
was a fun day and a successful fundraiser.
Our Stop Human Trafficking 5k is coming up soon, April 21 st at Bidwell Park. Please help spread the word
– we still need runners and sponsors!
Coming up, we will have a business meeting on March 12 and the awards banquet on March 26th.
Thank you for volunteering.
Marie

Committee Updates
Dream it, Be it ; Chair: Babette Maiss: We are looking for items to add to our goodie bag, we give to each participant. Does your company have promotional items? Or do you know a place that has such items to donate? Please get in touch with me.
Anti Trafficking Committee; Chair: Linda Lucena:
Poster Project
The posters have the National Human Trafficking Hotline phone number and text option. The information is in 3 languages. Members of our club posted them in public restrooms in 25 businesses along Hwy 99 in Chico, gas stations and fast-food restaurants.
Many trafficking victims are controlled by their traffickers, many are not let out of their site; this is why we have opted to post in public restrooms. This may be the only opportunity for the victim to have privacy and the opportunity to see the poster.
