Red (House Of Misfits Book 6) Kindle Edition
We’re the human equivalent of oil and water.
Staying away from him would be the obvious answer. Too bad we share a one-bedroom apartment. It’s an unfortunate situation I didn’t choose but can’t do anything about. When my best friend, Earth, moved out, he offered his room to his big brother who had rolled into town from Korea to kill him… but then ended up saving him.
And now we’re all supposed to be one big happy family.
Except Daeshim is not my brother and never will be. And no one has any idea who I really am. For years, I’ve been Beau the hacker. Beau the agreeable, quiet one in the corner.
I am those things. But I’m also a cyber crimes specialist with the FBI.
Surprise!
My real identity is a secret no one can know. Because the second they find out who I really am, my cover will be blown, everything I’ve been doing will come to light, and the found family I desperately want will toss me on the street.
Or worse.
But Daeshim won’t stop staring, dissecting me with his perceptive dark eyes. I can’t stand him, yet the heavier his attention gets, the more I crave. The more I begin to wonder if I’m just nervous he will find out my secrets or somehow get into my heart.
I’m starting to crumble, the weight on my shoulders too much to hold alone. His stubborn, unruly presence challenges me, scares me, yet also somehow calms me.
When danger gets uncomfortably close, I realize the only one strong enough to save me is the very criminal I’m not supposed to trust.

Red is a male/male contemporary romance with elements of suspense. It can be read as a standalone, however there are family dynamics in play from previous books. This is the first and only book for this couple in the House of Misfits series. Red has a guaranteed happy ending, does not have a cliffhanger, and is written in first person with dual POV.
Please note this book contains dark themes and mentions of off-page child abuse some readers may find uncomfortable. There is also violence (not between the main characters) and murder.

About the author

Cambria Hebert is a bestselling novelist of more than fifty titles. She went to college for a bachelor’s degree, couldn’t pick a major, and ended up with a degree in cosmetology. So rest assured her characters will always have good hair.
Besides writing, Cambria loves a pumpkin spice latte, staying up late, sleeping in, and watching K drama until her eyes won’t stay open. She considers math human torture and has an irrational fear of chickens (yes, chickens). You can often find her running on the treadmill (she’d rather be eating a donut), painting her toenails (because she bites her fingernails), or walking her chihuahuas (the real bosses of the house).
Cambria has written in many genres, including new adult, sports romance, male/male romance, sci-fi, thriller, suspense, contemporary romance, and young adult. Many of her titles have been translated into foreign languages and have been the recipients of multiple awards.

- Reviewed in Australia on 16 May 2022Verified PurchaseA unique fairytale retelling.
It's always the quiet ones who tend to harbour the biggest secrets. For years, one Grimm has been hiding and keeping a secret bigger than the Huntsman's. This whole time, Red's polished each of the apples in his basket, kept them shiny and out of the hands of those eager to snatch them up, and nobody even knew. He's dangled carrot after carrot, to keep his apples for himself, but this carrot, the biggest he's ever found, is his last. To protect his apples, he will leave them with the wolf who may be bad, but doesn't scare Red at all. In fact he's shocked to discover he loves bring manhandled by the wolf, and yet he still has to go. But what happens when the wolf refuses to be left behind? Can the apples retain their shine without Red's close attention? Will they end up as pie? Or will Red find his way back to Grimmy's house?
(Okay...totally think I blew it with the metaphors trying to avoid spoilers. Pie?? Griimy's?? Forgive me lol)
- Reviewed in Australia on 19 March 2022Verified PurchaseI can't believe this series has ended,
but what a way to end, so much love for the writing of this book I couldn't adult at all, the words kept me captivated. I wish we got more to the series not because it left me with questions but just because I love them, all of them.....

5.0 out of 5 stars House of misfits 💕
Verified PurchaseI’ve never done a book review before but felt I would be doing an injustice against this book, this book series was fantastic, Cambria defiantly left the best till last, the relationship between Beu and Daeshim was so pure and sweet and what is lovely about how Cambria writes is she doesn’t leave other characters out, throughout the book and more so towards the end we see how the other couples have grown individually and as a group, from book one (Ivory White) all the way through I have been hooked, my most favourite was “Prince” I thought their relationship was so sweet but all of them have been a consent obsession and it was hard to leave the imaginary book world of ‘house of misfits’ to do that boring thing called life and adulting but I would defiantly defiantly give this WHOLE book collection a read, you will not be disappointed 🙌🏻 X

5.0 out of 5 stars Fairytale with a twist.
Verified PurchaseWhen this series began, I was both excited and skeptical. Fairytales aren't something I lean to but these were books by Cambria Hebert. A favorite author since I read Text( one of the Take it Off series). I have read everything from her since then and I have to say this grown up fairytale captivated me and Red was the perfect end to an amazing series. Loved the twist in this one and that each couple got their HEA. If you haven't read any of her books, this series is a great one to start with!

5.0 out of 5 stars Get RED-y
Verified PurchaseUnequivocally this is one of the best books I've ever read from Cambria. Her writing style has evolved so much and her heart is in every word. This book takes the darkest parts of you and makes you love them in yourself and in these characters.
This series should be read together but you can read them stand alone. I did with Prince and Red. Know about the other characters is a plus but delving into the mind of Shim and Beau is magical on its own. The palpable love from both characters (even when they're denying it) is visceral and you can literally feel it and see it. So powerful.
Fletch is my favorite in this series but now he's got some competition with Red. Please pick this series up and read them all.
Great job Cambria!

5.0 out of 5 stars Wow! Red and his Wolf
Verified PurchaseBeau and Daeshim have stolen my heart and my words. So I'll give this review my best try.
This was the perfect ending to the House of Misfits books. I didn't see this one coming at me like it did. Their story is one that brings all of your emotions right to the front and takes you for one wild ride. But would you really expect anything less from Red and the big bad Wolf?
Beau made a place in my heart for himself from the beginning of the series. There was just something about him that I needed to know more. He always just seemed to be there watching and waiting. Until the Wolf showed up and made us realize how much more Beau was to everyone. I will tell you I never seen Beau's back story coming at all!
Then there is Daeshim.....i don't even know how to explain what he made me feel when he showed up and fought beside Beau. I love how Shim is able to see through Beau's calm exterior and help him with all his inner turmoil. I can't think of a better way to describe how he feels about Beau any better than when Daeshim says
"He's an instinct for me. Gravity."
Their story is definitely one that will make you swoon.
Lies, betrayal, heartbreaking past, love and of course some very steamy times with Red and his Wolf.
"For in those unexpected moments in the middle of the night, I was not Daeshim, and he was not Beau. We were not roommates, enemies, or brothers.
As the dark enveloped us, I enveloped him, and there was only one thing we could be:
Red and his Wolf."
Cambria has done it again with this modern day fairytale. If you haven't read the rest of the Misfits, I highly recommend you start from the beginning.
