Working with ecumenical communities and leaders
to empower and liberate communities’ spiritual life through singing

Happy Easter, friends!

Last summer, we convened our first MMC book club to read and reflect on My Grandmother's Hands by Twin Cities healer, author, and trauma specialist Resmaa Menakem. He names “white body supremacy trauma” as something we all integrate into our bodies and structures, and he offers stories and practices (including singing!) to help us identify and remediate it.

We're writing to invite you and others in your community to join us as we reconvene for another 8-week study beginning April 26. Our friend and collaborator Conie Borchardt has designed the curriculum and will serve as one of the group leaders.

Fill out this registration form to let us know your interest and to see schedule options.

Prior participants described the experience as thoughtful, heart-opening, challenging, and soulful.

"We all deal with some sort of historical trauma — minor to major — and being able to recognize it in ourselves is a gift the book gives. That knowledge, if nurtured and practiced, helps us to have more compassion towards the trauma in other bodies."

"I learned I can't engage in uprooting racism without a contemplative practice (embodied practice) and community - whether that’s singing or meditation. Community is what will move us toward the dream."

"We carry history in our bones. Broken bones have capacity to heal.
Healed bones are stronger than before."

MMC's commitments to racial justice and trauma-informed learning are central to our work, and we hope you'll join us as we continue to learn, reflect, and heal together.

With hope,

Paul
