WLWV QPR Training for Parents and Community Dec 15 2020
Suicide is the leading cause of death for youth in Oregon.

We are committed to changing that statistic. Supporting people through a moment of crisis can help them build resiliency. You don't need to be an expert to be a part of this work -- just a good listener. If you notice someone who might be struggling -- start a conversation. This training gives you the tools to effectively engage in this conversation.

QPR stands for Question, Persuade, Refer. The skills you learn at QPR training will help you recognize when someone is thinking about suicide and refer them for additional support. QPR training is a little like CPR training. Just like you don't need to be a licensed paramedic to administer CPR, you don't have to be a licensed counselor to help a person who is thinking about suicide.

This training is beneficial to anyone who works in our district or lives in our community. This training is designed for parents and community members. Of course, district staff are welcome to attend as well.

We have 4 certified trainers in our district who will be leading the workshops. Our trainers are:
-- Brittany Bucholz -- School Social Worker (Middle Schools and High Schools)
-- Sarah Hiatt -- School Social Worker (Primary Schools)
-- Cheryl Wilson -- Counselor and Social Worker (Art Tech High School)
-- Andrea Ramos -- School Psychologist
