Project MENA PEDIGREE: Sign-Up
Thank you for your interest in Project MENA PEDIGREE, the first-ever rare disease and genetic research awareness campaign for Middle Eastern or North African (MENA) Americans! The PEDIGREE model stands for Progressing Equity, Diversity, & Inclusion in Genetic Research, Education, & Empowerment. Our goal is to increase culturally-competent resources and education in genetics research and genomic medicine for the MENA American community.

In this collaboration between the Center for Arab Narratives (CAN) and the Broad Institute of MIT and Harvard, Project MENA PEDIGREE will be hosting 3 main events:

1. “MENA Student Advocacy and Careers in Genetic and Rare Disease Research” (April 24, 2024 @ 6-7 pm EST via Zoom).

2. “MENA Family Support in Navigating Genetic Research”
  • In-person: Friday, August 23rd, 2024 at the Back-to-School Fair in Dearborn, MI
  • Online: Thursday, September 19 @ 5:30-7pm EST via Zoom
3. “The Role of MENA Health Care Providers in Genetics and Genomics” (October 21-23, 2024 at the ACCESS 2024 Arab Health Summit in Dearborn, MI).
