On June 24, people across Wisconsin are gathering to enjoy the places that are threatened by Enbridge's tar sands pipelines traveling through Wisconsin - including the new, proposed Line 61-twin.

The four events being held throughout Wisconsin are meant to be fun, recreational events to remind us about the wonderful places at risk.  Enjoy Wisconsin's natural areas and meet new friends and neighbors!  There will be a short 5-minute presentation at each event about the pipeline and the area at risk.

The events include:
-POSTPONED: Paddle on the Pipeline: a canoe/kayak trip on the Namekagon River.  Due to concerns about the weather, the safety of the high water, and continuing storm damage, we are forced to postpone the Paddle on the Pipeline, which was to take place this weekend on June 24.  Stay tuned for the date of it being rescheduled and contact Lee Balek (lee.balek@gmail.com) if you'd like to help with the event in the future. Sorry for an inconvenience.

-Parade on the Pipeline/ Party for the Planet: a fun, family-friendly event with activities.  Stop on by!  We'll gather at noon at the intersection of Hwy 16 and Williams Road in Rio. It's bring your own lunch.  There will be hay-bales, but feel free to bring your own chair or blanket if you would like something else.  There will be free kites for kids and other activities.

-Pedal on the Pipeline: a bike ride on the Glacial Drumlin Trail.  We'll leave from the trailhead in Cottage Grove at 10:00 and ride approximately 13 miles to the Line 61 crossing for a short program, and then another 2 miles for a picnic (bring your own lunch!) and then bike back.  If 30 miles is too much, a different group will be joining at the crossing in Deerfield for a little bit of a shorter ride.  

-Protect the Rock River March: (a little different flavor!) Join us for a march along the Rock River. We'll start in Lower Courthouse Park in Janesville at 11:00. Bring your best signs and banners!
