Brian J Evans

Seattle WA
Performing  #RightNow

Spoken word wrapped in a song unpacking his role as a self-identified man within the #metoo movement.

A Citizen Artist of mixed disciplines, mixed professions, and mixed race, Brian J. Evans unpacks the “moments of suspension” that reside in the spaces between spaces. Convinced that connections exist between us all and it is the responsibility of the Arts to remind us to be holistically human, lest we forget. Evans will continue his efforts as a tenure-track professor in the department of theater and dance at Bates College starting August 2020.

Chris Aiken and Angie Hauser

Northampton MA
Perform Stay:  a digital space experiment
Disruption. Absence. Dailyness.  The question ‘who are we now?’ is our constant partner as we move through our daily lives.  The proportions of our days have shifted.  Actions that were present but in the shadows are now amplified, while others continue to shrink.  We huddle and hunker, we survive, we grieve, we correspond, we dig and plant, we stay.  We do not dance much.   How do we answer the question of who we are by answering what we do?

Chris Aiken and Angie Hauser are long-time dance makers and friends of Patrick’s Cabaret, who collaborate to make improvised performances.

The Sutter Brothers

Minnesota
Performing: The Great Lake

Bart Sutter presents his poem about a Swedish immigrant who worked on Lake Superior, and Ross follows with a song in honor of the lake, the lyrics set to an old Irish hymn to St. Bridget, Gabhaim Molta Bride.

A poetry-and-music duo, The Sutter Brothers have performed together for more than thirty years, presenting shows that integrate Bart’s original poems with Ross’s versions of traditional songs and tunes from the American, Celtic, and Scandinavian folk traditions.

Denise Armstead

Performing a Whimsical Dance excerpt from an evening length work Unlimited Bliss. The spontaneity of life leads you to an inspiration of Bliss. Conceived while taking a walk in her Frogtown neighborhood during which she had a magical, mystical encounter with a stranger on a bike. This version is remade in collaboration with her backyard.

Her approach to dance threads a storyline of human emotions, natural settings and experiences through jazzy, rhythmic complexity mixed with contemporary nuances, creating multi-layered works of art with a theatrical edge that draws from a large palette of styles.
