Book Club
SAT. 6/22 from 11AM—12PM
Join our fiction book club and embark on a literary journey filled with captivating stories, vibrant characters, and thought-provoking themes. Each month, we select a compelling work of fiction— from bestselling novels to hidden gems—and gather together to discuss our thoughts, share insights, and explore the intricacies of the story. Whether you're a lifelong bookworm or just discovering the joys of reading, our book club welcomes readers of all backgrounds and interests.
This month we will read The Push by Ashley Audrain.
Book Summary:
Blythe Connor is determined that she will be the warm, comforting mother to her new baby Violet that she herself never had.
But in the thick of motherhood's exhausting early days, Blythe becomes convinced that something is wrong with her daughter—she doesn't behave like most children do.
Or is it all in Blythe's head? Her husband, Fox, says she's imagining things. The more Fox dismisses her fears, the more Blythe begins to question her own sanity, and the more we begin to question what Blythe is telling us about her life as well.
Then their son Sam is born—and with him, Blythe has the blissful connection she'd always imagined with her child. Even Violet seems to love her little brother. But when life as they know it is changed in an instant, the devastating fall-out forces Blythe to face the truth.
For fans of Verity and We Need to talk about Kevin, The The Push is a tour de force you will read in a sitting, an utterly immersive novel that will challenge everything you think you know about motherhood, about what we owe our children, and what it feels like when women are not believed.

Book Club
Saturday 7/27 at 11am
This month the Adult Book Club will read and discuss The People We Keep by Allison Larkin. Register in advance to reserve a copy of the book.
Description: Little River, New York, 1994: April Sawicki is living in a motorless motorhome that her father won in a poker game. Failing out of school, picking up shifts at Margo’s diner, she’s left fending for herself in a town where she’s never quite felt at home. When she “borrows” her neighbor’s car to perform at an open mic night, she realizes her life could be much bigger than where she came from. After a fight with her dad, April packs her stuff and leaves for good, setting off on a journey to find a life that’s all hers.
As April moves through the world, meeting people who feel like home, she chronicles her life in the songs she writes and discovers that where she came from doesn’t dictate who she has to be.
This lyrical, unflinching tale is for anyone who has ever yearned for the fierce power of found family or to grasp the profound beauty of choosing to belong.

Outdoor Movie Nights
8/8, 8/15, 8/22 at 7:30pm
Join us for outdoor movie night at the library! Bring chairs, blankets, snacks, and everything else you need to be comfy, and meet us on the side of the building near the picnic tables! Movies will begin promptly at 7:30pm. If it is raining by 7pm, movies will be shown inside the library meeting room instead of outside. The parent or guardian of any child who is attending is responsible for deciding whether each movie is appropriate for their child.
This week's movie is "Goonies" Rated PG (1 hr 50 min). Old-fashioned yarn about a band of adventurous kids who take on the might of a property developing company which plans to destroy their home to build a country club. When the children discover an old pirate map in the attic, they follow it into an underground cavern in search of lost treasure but come up against plenty of dangerous obstacles along the way.
