Feb 11th-Join us we engage in this year’s African-American Read In on Zoom from 3:30-4:30pm. Participants will select a poem, picture book, or excerpt from a longer text written by their favorite African-American author, and bring it to our virtual Read-In to share stories as we come together.

Feb 11th-There will be a film screening of the documentary, “The Black Panthers: Vanguard of the Revolution”, on Zoom from 4:00-6:00pm

Feb. 16th- “Ely to Griffin: The Forgotten Black History of Farmville! Pt. 1” The Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Moton Museum are partnering to put on a townhall discussion about the overlooked and forgotten Black History of Farmville and Prince Edward County, on Zoom from 6:00-7:15pm

Feb. 18th- “Athletes in Activism”, The Office of Multicultural Affairs will be doing an overview of the historic and current impact of the role of Black athletes in social justice movements, on Zoom from 5:30-7:00pm

Feb. 22nd-“Free Soil Arts Collective”, Calling all artists! We are collaborating with Crista Brown, the Founder and Executive Director of the Free Soil Arts Collective, an arts organization with a mission to amplify and strengthen the voices of POC artists, to create a space to highlight, promote, and celebrate the contributions of Black art. Join us on Zoom from 6-7:00pm.

Feb. 24th-“Ely to Griffin: Where Are We Now? Where Are We Headed? Pt. 2”

This will be a follow-up conversation to our Part 1 where will discuss the current issues within the local community and where we fit into the picture as Citizen Leaders. Join us on Zoom from 6-7:15pm

Feb. 25th-“College Behind Bars”-The Office of Multicultural Affairs and the Moton Museum are partnering to present a film screening of Ken Burns” PBS docuseries “College Behind Bars”, followed by a panel discussion with participants from the film. Join us on Zoom starting at 6pm.

Feb. 26th-“Black Women in Social Activism”, Women have been both leaders and the backbone of social change movements for years, yet they go unrecognized and uncelebrated. Today’s event will be centered around some of the “Sheroes” of activism and the impact of the women in social justice movements. Join on Zoom from 6-7:15pm.
