Faithfulness Because There is a Mission
We continue our series from the book of Numbers with a repeated cycle of faithlessness … in order to see what faithfulness is in light of the mission at hand.
Discovery Questions
Self-reflection:
Read Numbers 11-19. Yes, all of it. (It won’t take that long, really.) Do you identify with any of the types of complaints that were raised? How should you respond?
With your family:
Share some ideas of what your family “mission” is, and then show how the chores and tasks your children do contribute to the family mission.
With your small group:
- Skim Numbers 11-19. (Alternately, spend the time it takes to just read it all, taking turns.)
- What stands out to you in these verses? Why?
- What bothers you about these verses? Why?
- Discuss the self-reflection question above.
- How does the existence of a mission for the church help define what “faithfulness to God” means?
- Given this passage, what should you do this week?
