Faithfulness in the PLM

Series: I’m Nuts About Numbers

Numbers 11-19

Coss, Cliff (Jan. 2018)

Faithfulness Because There is a Mission

We continue our series from the book of Numbers with a repeated cycle of faithlessness … in order to see what faithfulness is in light of the mission at hand.

 Discovery Questions

Self-reflection:

Read Numbers 11-19. Yes, all of it. (It won’t take that long, really.) Do you identify with any of the types of complaints that were raised? How should you respond?

With your family:

Share some ideas of what your family “mission” is, and then show how the chores and tasks your children do contribute to the family mission.

With your small group:

  1. Skim Numbers 11-19. (Alternately, spend the time it takes to just read it all, taking turns.)
  2. What stands out to you in these verses? Why?
  3. What bothers you about these verses? Why?
  4. Discuss the self-reflection question above.
  5. How does the existence of a mission for the church help define what “faithfulness to God” means?
  6. Given this passage, what should you do this week?
