After about 20 years, Arby's in Oconomowoc is closing

Arby's in Oconomowoc will close April 19 after about 20 years in the city.

Located at 662 E. Wisconsin Ave., the property is owned by Carisch Inc., which operates Arby's restaurants in several states. 

Stacy Carisch of Carisch Inc. said the restaurant underperformed.

"The demographics in the market of that area didn't suit our brand," Carisch said. "We thought another brand might be better suited for that area. We don't like to close. We're in the business of expansion and being part of a community. Closing (a restaurant) takes quite a bit of analysis and thought."

Carisch said the restaurant has been sold but did not name the buyer.

Arby's is the second fast-food chain to close on East Wisconsin Avenue in recent years. Kentucky Fried Chicken at 860 E. Wisconsin Ave. closed in December 2018. Burger King later opened at that location.
