ISRAELI CULTURE IN THE CZECH REPUBLIC

June 2021
People of Jerusalem Elazar Simcha Jessel

Summer is knocking on our door and culture is slowly coming back again. We have to wait a while for Israeli artists to come in person, but there is still something to follow. For example, pack your suitcase and move to Liberec for a few days and dive into Anifilm festival.

Stay with Israeli culture!
Israeli traces in Anifilm
22. - 27.6. / Anifilm festival / Liberec

Anifilm, the International Festival of Animated Film is one of the first to open (we still hope) its doors to the audience. Even this year, Israeli animation did not remain in the background, so you can look forward to several Israeli contributions. It is undoubtedly interesting that the visual of this year was created by the Czech-Israeli duo Eliška and Lee Oz. Take a look at the catchy visuals and the festival program on their website here.
Have a look at Israeli films at Anifilm:
Student films competition
Gen Tree (Ronni Shalev, Aron Sharabi, Hod Adler)
Half a Saba (Ben Molina)
The Deceased (Avishai Simchovitch, Keren Zelingher)
The Quest for Freedom and the Longing for Belonging (Noam Paul)
Abstract and non-narrative animation competition
Alexander Mosolov. Three Pieces (Natalia Ryss)
Peregrine (Daniela Sherer)
Other programs:
Queer film: Cut (Dar Laor)

A man of many faces, this is how Asaf Gavron, whom we know mainly in the Czech environment as a literary author, could be described. In Israel, however, he is known not only for his books but also as a lyricist and singer. His dream was to become a pop star, but in the end, his heart won the literature. You can find out all about this in an interview with Ráchel Polohová in Maskil magazine (in the Czech language).

We have prepared another photographic exhibition for you, which you can see anytime and anywhere. It is again in virtual form on the embassy website here.
In the exhibition "My Jerusalem" you will see photographers who took photos at different times and managed to capture exciting and stimulating moments. The photographs testify to the beauty, love and desire of many people who have documented their magical moments in Jerusalem.
Vážka - Boaz Amidror
We have promised you a link to the online exhibition of the wildlife photography of Israel by Boaz Amidror here it finally is. Enjoy!

"Go Gaga: Beyond Our Familiar Limits," a conversation between Gaga's originator, Ohad Naharin and award-winning author, Nicole Krauss.
These two artists forged a dynamic transatlantic friendship full of movement and dialogue--they will discuss how their practices and perspectives have evolved over the past year. We expect a lively conversation, and perhaps even some movement!
This free online event begins at 7 pm TLV / 12 pm NYC on Sunday, June 6.
