Hillel Hives - Leaders
You asked for it - so here it is! In response to students’ seeking more small, community based programs and engagement opportunities, it is our pleasure to present to you our brand new program (so new it still has new car smell) Hillel Hives!

The Hillel Hives program will create small communities of students with similar interests and/or backgrounds. Each tribe will have one or two peer leaders and 7-10 hive members. Each semester, there will be at least two ALL-HIVES programs intended to bring all involved students together for a joint program/speaker/training/trivia opportunity.

Hive Leader Responsibilities
--> Contact each member of your hive at least once a month
--> Hold at least two hive meetings a month
--> Create a platform for hive members to communicate (Facebook group/WhatsApp)
--> Create at least one Jewish themed program a semester
--> Meet with Hillel staff once a month for one-on-one meetings (about 30-45 min each)
--> Meet with Hillel staff once a month for leadership/program development (about 60 min each)
--> Attend All-HIVE gatherings at least twice a semester
--> Take a photo of each hive meeting

Hive Leaders Will Receive
--> Compensation of $150 per semester assuming all responsibilities are fulfilled
--> Leadership training and skill building opportunities
--> Professional development towards future goals
--> Ownership in the development of the Stony Brook Jewish community

Each hive will have access to a program budget to help create programming. Hive leaders are expected to make Hillel Hives a top priority and understand that this is a year-long commitment. (If you are graduating in December but would still like to apply to be an Hillel Hives leader, be in touch with Jenn: jennifer.handel@stonybrook.edu)

All applicants must be full-time matriculated Stony Brook students with a minimum GPA of 2.5 and be in good standing with the university. All students are encouraged to apply, and prior participation with Hillel and student leadership with the Jewish community are not required.

With so many uncertainties in our futures, one thing is for sure! Stony Brook Hillel is only as amazing as you, our students! Will you help us reach our potential?
