Volunteer Duties:
- Make recommendations to the Recreation Coordinator/Supervisor relating to policies and programs for the youth sport
- Support the mission of the Department of Recreation and Parks through offering youth sports programs to the greater Howard County community
- Provide leadership and direction for program volunteers, including recruitment, training, retention and recognition
- Provide a positive, safe and fun learning environment for all participants in the youth sports program, encouraging active participation, sportsmanship and teamwork.

PLEASE NOTE: As an authorized volunteer of Howard County, MD, private contact information of participants may be shared with you for the purposes of program correspondence. Utilization of this information outside of its intended use is strictly prohibited.

Requirements:
- Complete the Coaches Registry (Headshot, Concussion Cert., CPR/AED/First Aid Cert., pass Criminal Background Check)

Training:
- Complete the NFHS Concussion Training course.
- Complete the CPR/AED/First Aid Training course.
- Maintain Coaches Registry membership, which may require periodic trainings and/or meetings.
- Attend training classes before the season begins as required.

Size: Varies. Number and scope of positions are determined by advisory board bylaws, which are reviewed and approved by the Recreation Coordinator/Supervisor.

Term: One year; elections should take place at the end of the sports'' season, or as to least disrupt the regular business of the advisory board and the program.

Financial Disclosure: Act as liaison with booster clubs to ensure that the IRS 501(c)(3) nonprofit status is maintained and that, upon request, annual tax returns are provided to Howard County Recreation and Parks.

Meetings: Varies. Advisory boards should meet monthly, or as necessary to successfully manage and support the program and the Department of Recreation and Parks.

Coaching East Howard Jaguars Football "TEAM ADMINISTRATOR" | 2024 Fall

Join our team as a Sports Administrator Volunteer, where your collaborative efforts with program staff and coaches will contribute to cultivating an optimal GoodSports environment, ensuring a seamless and rewarding experience for all participants in our sports programs.

Volunteer Duties:

Administrative Duties

- Provide youth sports program support as directed by youth sports program staff.
- Attend youth sport program meeting(s) before the season begins and during when scheduled.
- Support and cooperate with the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks, and any applicable league/governing body on all League and administrative matters.
- Carryout or delegate other team activities as necessary (ex. equipment return, snacks, picture day)

Parent Management
- Work with coaches to gain parents'' support of program objectives and to assist children in their development.
- If necessary, assist with monitoring parent behaviors initially; and when necessary, keep immediate supervisor (commissioner, etc.) aware for their support, assistance, etc.
- Assist with communicating pertinent information to parents. This includes but is not limited to changes in games, practices, child''s behavior concerns, any injury (including formal documentation of injuries requiring sitting out extended periods to medical response.
- Specific Administrator duties as stated in the assigned program bylaws.

New CPR Requirement for All Coaches:
In our ongoing commitment to youth safety, we are writing to inform you of a new requirement to remain active on the Coaches Registry.

CPR/AED/First Aid Certification Requirement:
As of June 30, 2023, all new AND returning Coaches are required to complete CPR / AED / First-Aid Training or attach a current certificate showing that the participant has completed training within the last 2 years to remain an active member of the registry and be placed on a coaching roster in 2023-2024.

Already CPR Certified: If you have current (within the last 2 years) CPR / First -Aid certification, please login to your account on www.HoCoVolunteer.org and upload a copy of the certificate to your dashboard as soon as possible (once uploaded there is nothing more for you to do).

Need to complete the CPR Certification: If you do not have current CPR / First-Aid certification, please read the CPR Course Code Needed section below to sign up. Once you sign-up, a separate email will be sent to you within 2 business days with a free code to take an online CPR / AED / First-Aid training course that is offered by the National CPR Foundation.

Embark on an exciting journey as a Youth Cheer Coach Volunteer, where your enthusiasm, leadership, and dedication will inspire and guide young athletes in developing their skills, fostering teamwork, and creating a spirited and positive cheerleading experience.

The volunteer position of coach is intended to develop in players a positive image of themselves, their teammates, coaches, game officials, and opponents and provide a good role model for players. Additionally, the coach will develop in his/her players the skills appropriate to the specific sport. Work is performed under the supervision of the Recreation Staff person assigned to the League.

Volunteer Duties:

- Attend uniform/equipment distribution prior to a season to receive team uniforms, team equipment, etc.
- Plan, organize and supervise practice sessions in accordance with the ASEP philosophy and teach age-appropriate skills.

- Support and cooperate the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks, and any applicable league/governing body on all League and coaching matters.

Coaching Western Howard Warhawks Football "TEAM ADMINISTRATOR" | 2024 Fall

Join our team as a Sports Administrator Volunteer, where your collaborative efforts with program staff and coaches will contribute to cultivating an optimal GoodSports environment, ensuring a seamless and rewarding experience for all participants in our sports programs.

Volunteer Duties:

Administrative Duties

- Provide youth sports program support as directed by youth sports program staff.
- Attend youth sport program meeting(s) before the season begins and during when scheduled.
- Support and cooperate with the Howard County Department of Recreation and Parks, and any applicable league/governing body on all League and administrative matters.
- Carryout or delegate other team activities as necessary (ex. equipment return, snacks, picture day)

Parent Management
- Work with coaches to gain parents'' support of program objectives and to assist children in their development.
- If necessary, assist with monitoring parent behaviors initially; and when necessary, keep immediate supervisor (commissioner, etc.) aware for their support, assistance, etc.
- Assist with communicating pertinent information to parents. This includes but is not limited to changes in games, practices, child''s behavior concerns, any injury (including formal documentation of injuries requiring sitting out extended periods to medical response.
- Specific Administrator duties as stated in the assigned program bylaws.
