HANDLE
 stands for Holistic Approach to Neuro-Development and Learning Efficiency. It is a gentle and powerful, respectful, non-invasive and non-drug approach to enhancing all forms of learning, both in children and adults.

Details:

  • Cost: $350 for both courses, $95 for Level 1, $275 for Level 2. Early bird discounts until June 2nd. 
  • HANDLE clients (past or present, of any provider) can request a discount code. If you have taken HANDLE's Levels 1-2 before and want to repeat the class, contact us about joining at no cost. 
  • Deadline to Register:  July 24, 2019
  • HANDLE Training:  HANDLE Levels 1 & 2 are prerequisite for Level 3, the Screener Course, which will be offered August 4-18
  

Level 1 (Note: Level 1 is prerequisite to Level 2):

  • Understanding the HANDLE principles and their application 
  • The science of how stress affects learning and quality of life
  • Understanding how nutrition and good health enhance our abilities
  • Learning to notice signs of stress and intervene before the consequences manifest
  • Discovering how our quality of life and abilities are affected by internal and external environment 
  • Learning about Gentle Enhancement® and the meaning of “innocent assault”  
  • Learning six HANDLE Activities for enhancing learning and human potential which you can immediately start using with your family, clients and students 
InstruNancy Dillctor Nancy Dill has been involved with HANDLE for over nine years. She started by taking a level 1&2 course in the Spring of 2009, and immediately connected with a Practitioner for her son on the autism spectrum. Nancy is a Certified HANDLE Screener, Level 1 Instructor, and is currently in her Internship pursuing her Practitioner Certification. She owns an organic restaurant in Kimberton, PA, holds a Masters degree in Environmental Engineering and Chemistry, and taught community college and high school mathematics and Chemistry for 13 years. She is passionate about nutrition, gardening and holistic health.

  • Discovering root causes of challenging behaviors and learning difficulties
  • Creating a new understanding of the senses and motor functions 
  • Understanding and interpreting learning, social and behavioral challenges 
  • Exploring the neurodevelopmental systems - the building blocks of learning and achievement
  • Discovering the elements of learning – such as the numerous systemic influences on writing
  • Learning how to positively enhance learning without overwhelm 
  • Learning how neurodevelopmental systems develop, affect and support each other 
  • Learning 6 more HANDLE Activities and exploring a wide range of variations and applications for each

Shifra Leiser Instructor Shifra K. Leiser, OTD, OTR/L is an Assistant Professor in the Touro Manhattan Occupational Therapy Program. She is a SIPT-Certified Occupational Therapist with over 20 years of clinical experience. Dr. Leiser is a certified HANDLE® Practitioner and Instructor, trained directly under Judith Bluestone, founder of the HANDLE Institute. She artfully fuses Sensory Integration and HANDLE for optimal results.  She has presented this work at the American Occupational Therapy Association’s National Conference and is passionate about teaching this work.
