Title: Holiday Heart.
Series: Holiday Express #2.
Author: Shanna Hatfield.
Genre: Christian, Christmas, Western Romance.
Publisher: Wholesome Hearts Publishing.
Release Date: December 7, 2021.
Format: Kindle (read) & paperback.
Pages: 240.
Source: Kindle Unlimited.
Cover: Beautiful and fits the book. All the books in this series have the same setting with different “brides”. Says Christmas, western, and romance.
———————————-
The year is 1914; the location is the town of Holiday in Eastern Oregon.

Zach Coleman is a repairman located in Holiday. Zach loves what he does and loves his family (introduced in Holiday Hope, book 1). On his way home via motorcycle (and yes, they existed in 1914).

Lorna Lennox has just moved to Holiday and is the daughter of a railroad tycoon. Spotting the town’s beautiful white gazebo in the park with its copper roof, she positions her hands as if they were a picture frame. And backs up. Adjusts. Backs some more. Not looking where she is going and about to be hit by a “speeding” Model T, Zach saves her from serious injury by … well, tackling her. After that, Zach keeps trying to convince himself that he wants to stay a bachelor.

Characters from book #1 are very much a part of Holiday Heart . Of course, all the Lennox characters are new. Her father has moved them to Holiday from the East after the death of his wife, Lorna’s mother. Their Holiday home has the best of everything. You will like Lorna. The author could have made her spoiled and petulant. Instead, she has a level head on her shoulders and a kind heart. As I said, you’ll like her.

Zach is a conscientious employee, a good son who works on the ranch on his days off. And appreciates what his parents and grandparents have accomplished. He also has a sense of humor. You’ll like Zach too. You do get to NOT like someone who appears unexpectedly.
-----------------
This book is so enjoyable to read. One of the things I liked the most were the quotes from “Miss Mulberry’s Advice for Today’s Young Woman” which begin some of the chapters. Miss Mulberry’s Advice was a creation of the author but when you read newspapers of that era, such “advice” appears here and there. At the end is a recipe for Cranberry Coffee Cake that looks delicious. Hey, it’s got chocolate chips and cream cheese. It’s gotta be good.

Read Holiday Heart . You will enjoy every bit of it. Be sure to read the “Author’s Note” where Shanna Hatfield shares how ideas and certain places inspired parts of the book (and the series). Holiday Heart could be read as a standalone but I urge you to read Holiday Hope first; you will enjoy this book even more.

Holiday Heart is the perfect title for this sweet and amazing book.
Shanna Hatfield’s heart pours onto each and every page of this story.
Zach Coleman is a hard worker at the train station, he loves his friends and family and can’t see his life settling down. Well, not until he saves a damsel in distress from being injured from nearly falling in the street.
Lorna Lennox, lost in thought of getting the perfect picture in her mind of the towns gazebo, stumbles backward into the street.
When Zach saves Lorna, it’s love at first site, sparks fly, and a new friendship blossoms.
This book has the sweetest and perfect Christmas miracles we all love to read and imagine ourselves experiencing.
I loved this book, the plot, and most of all the fine people of Holiday, Oregon.
Truly, the most inspiring Christmas book I have had the pleasure of reading.

Trying to fit in when you're the richest woman in town

I enjoyed this well written story with its very likable characters. With her father away on business, Lorna befriends several people willing to accept her for who she is instead of being impressed about the money. However, when she falls for one of her father's employees, what will happen when her papa returns? A delightful read.

Zach Coleman, our hero, is inside his Love, Lorna Lennox's home and thinking she is fast asleep, begins to plant kisses up her arm. "You keep doing that," Lorna whispered in a languid tone, "There might be a shotgun wedding in your future." He drew back and watched as Lorna lazily opened her eyes and gave him a saucy smile, too stunned by her words to take her up on the offer and send for Pastor Ryan. "How long have you been awake?" "Who said I was asleep? This is just one snippet out of author Shanna Hatfields's latest romance and is a testimony to why we love her stories so much. The time period is around WW I and these two sweethearts would have never met but for Zach rescuing Lorna from being run over by a lumber wagon. Why? Lorna is the only daughter of a railroad tycoon who has purchased the Holiday line on which Zach is a locomotive mechanic. Talk about two people from opposite worlds! Lorna, who should be a selfish, spoiled lady growing up in luxury and indulgences, is quite the opposite. She goes about the little town of Holiday spreading benevolence and good cheer, trying to fit her wealthy lifestyle into her new community. Zach is doing exactly what he has always wanted in working with his hands and his tools. He is hard-working, gallant, charming and full of goodness. Lorna's indulgent father warns and threatens poor Zach to leave his daughter alone. But the whole world cannot seem to keep these two apart! Another swoon worthy romance brimming with hope, heart and fascinating historical details, one of the hallmarks of Shanna Hatfield's exquisite writing.

This is the second installment in this series about life in Holiday. If you have not read the previous book, I encourage you to do so, but this book is still excellent as a stand alone.

Years have passed, the town of Holiday has grown up and the Coleman family has expanded.
Zach Coleman is working on the trains, specifically the one his father drove for many years.
He, himself, has a new motorcycle. One day after work Zach sees and saves a new woman in town, when she distractedly wanders into the street. He is not looking for romance, and especially not when he discovers this woman is his boss's daughter! But Lorna is unlike anyone he has ever met.
Like him, she is fascinated with motors, engines and innovation.

While her father is away, and since she knows no one in town besides her family's hired help, it is only neighborly for Zach to make her feel welcome. I love that part of the story takes place at Halloween.

A sweet romance with wonderful characters. It is funny and uplfting even when Lorna's father returns bringing along someone from her past. This book is about friendship and new experiences.

I accepted an advanced copy of this book but the opinions and rating are my true opinion.

A collision … a life saved and two lives changed forever! Lorna is totally engrossed as she dreams a new dream when suddenly she is knocked off her feet by Zach … and avoids being squashed by a wagon. As Zach and Lorna get to know each other there is an instant spark that is seen by all … but what happens when her father comes back home? Can they rise through adversity to let those sparks fly higher?
I loved going back to the town of Holiday. Shanna writes stories that make me feel like I am part of the community. I want to know what happens in the lives of the characters and it was so good to see the characters from Holiday Hope and find out how their life has progressed. The story and emotions of Zach and Lorna were a welcome respite from the busyness of this time of year, and a chance to escape for an evening. I loved the generous nature of Lorna and the way she wants to bless those around her, and the way she was so excited by Christmas and being able to share that love with her community. I was inspired to be a bit more like her. I loved this book, and look forward to reading book 3 soon.

The second chapter in the Colman family story. Jace and Cora Lee's son Zach has followed in his father's footsteps with his love for trains and can fix almost anything. He works for the same railroad his father did, but is the mechanic who maintains the engines. When he rescues a young lady who is almost run over by a lumber wagon, there is instant attraction. But when he realizes that she is the daughter of the millionaire who owns the railroad, he is convinced that they are from two different worlds and can never have a relationship. They become friends, and their affection for each other grows until her father returns home and sends Zach away. Lorna has a sweet heart and loves her father dearly, but refuses to let him choose who she will marry. The characters in this series are so well written and you feel like you know them. It is a great story about the love of family and their support for each other. I look forward to the next generation's story.

Holiday Heart is book two in the new series by Shanna Hatfield. While it could be read as a stand alone book, reading it in order of the series fills in gaps and enriches the story.
This is Zach and Lorna’s story. Zach is the son of Jace and Cora Lee (from Holiday Hope) and works for the railroad. Lorna’s father owns the railroad – which makes for an interesting match-up. While they have completely different backgrounds and upbringing, these two are both very similar in their love for family and wanting to help those in their community. As they get to know each other, it seems nothing could stand in the way of their blossoming relationship. However, that is before her father is back in town; and he has a thing or two to say about who is courting his daughter!
I received an ARC of this book, but voluntarily write this review as I very much enjoyed this book!

I like how this is the next generation from the Holiday Hope story. Zach grew up around trains and loves fixing them. On his way home from work one day, he sees a woman backing into the street. She isn't paying attention and is almost run over by a wagon. Zach to the rescue. Lorna can't believe that she was so engrossed in looking at the gazebo that she didn't pay attention to her surroundings. They are instantly smitten, but Lorna's dad is Zach's employer. Her dad also has definite ideas about the classes and Zach is not in her class. Lorna doesn't care about things like that, but her dad does and makes it hard for Zach. Can they make their relationship work? Will her father give his blessing?

This is a most wonderful story about two mail order brides who met on the train from back east and found out they were going to the same town Holiday, Oregon. The liked the thought that at least they would know a friend in town.
They made it to Baker City in Eastern Oregon where they were switching trains to the Holiday Express. This train will take them right into Holiday.
They suddenly were robbed when train was boarded by cowboys. Cora Lee was getting up and the door opened right as she went to open it and she almost fell but the very tall man grabbed her so she wouldn’t fall but she accidentally pulled on his bandana hiding most of his face. He let go of her and told her to go sit down.
Finally they left and the train never even stopped.
They were so glad when they got to Holiday.
Very intriguing story with mystery and love, and finding a love in a man whose brother was her fiancé but he didn’t want her.
Her friend found her true love waiting for her at the train station.
Love, home, family and friends at the holidays is the most perfect story line you will love to read.
I received this story from the author to read and search for possible mistakes.
I am doing this review simply because I loved this story. There are three more in this series and I can’t wait to read them.

I enjoyed this book about Zach and Lorna. Lorna's father is rich, very rich, but she just came to live in Holiday. She doesn't know anyone, and she just met Zach. He invited her to a Halloween Party, and she wants to go. She should have a chaperone, but she wants to go alone.

Zach doesn't recognize her at first but then he does and walks her home. They start seeing each other but Zach knows her father will never except him dating his daughter. They have to fight to keep seeing each other but like all good friendships it's worth it.

Their live couldn’t be any more different. Zack is a hard working train engineer and Lorna the daughter of his very wealthy boss. They fell in love but will her father approve him? Being new in town Lorna does everything to feel at home and even more. Can their love story get a HEA?
Fun entertaining story. Loved to read the way Lorna is making friends and helps the whole community. And following the Coleman family during the decades makes it even more entertaining.

A sweet romance with depth, humor and a reminder of the real meaning of Christmas. The author has written another winner in this second book in the series. Zach and Lorna were both great main characters that were perfect for each other, but they had to go through some heartache to get to their HEA. I thoroughly enjoyed spending time in the Eastern Oregon town of Holiday and I am looking forward to reading book #3. This is a terrific series and I cannot recommend it enough.

Utterly Charming

You can’t help but like Zach within the first few pages, Lorena charmed me at first then made me frown at the costume party. However she proved to be anything but a spoiled heiress, rather she’s kind and generous to everyone plus very loving to everyone . Seeing how far Holiday has progressed combined with the growth in Cora Lee and Jaces family plus Anna and RC’s family makes this a very good read.

Zach Coleman works on the Holiday engine train and loves what he does. Zach comes from a large extended family that he loves. Family is something that is important to Zach. Lorna Lennox is new to town and finds herself rescued by Zach Coleman before she is run over by a wagon. Lorna appreciates the beauty in things around her which is what put her in the predicament of needing to be rescued by Zach. This is such a sweet holiday romance with well written characters you're sure to love!
