July 1, 2020 Update

Dear GC Family & Friends,

First, we hope everyone is staying healthy and staying connected!
We are so thankful for all the volunteers and staff that have made our “Welcome Back” Indoor Family Services possible. We love doing ministry with you!

As you probably know, the City of Leander has issued an order effective July 1, 2020 regarding “face coverings” and “social distancing” considering increased C19 cases being reported and treated. Attached is a notice they provided. I am glad to announce that we have been following these guidelines since we re-opened. But now, it has been “ordered” rather than “suggested” and we will continue following these guidelines until they change. Therefore, every person over the age of 10 that enters the building must have a “face covering” to put on should they not be able to “social distance” from non-family members.

For those who can’t come or are not ready to come back just yet, you can worship with us online! Know that we miss you and hope to see you again in the coming weeks. If you need to talk with someone, need prayer, or need assistance please contact our church office at 512-616-7000. We are here to serve you!

Second, we are making some changes to our children’s class schedules due to limited volunteer staffing:  SUNDAY, JULY 5, 2020
  • Nursery (Birth – 23 Months) – 9am service only
  • Preschool (Ages 2 – K1) – 9am & 10:45am services
  • Elementary (Grades 2-5) – 9am service only
Again, we ask everyone to remain considerate of other members and guests by following “social distancing” guidelines and good hygiene policies. Here are a few details for worship gatherings and other events moving forward:
NURSERY & CHILDREN’S CLASSES:
  • Check-In Kiosks for all age groups (Birth – Grade 5) will be outside at each entrance. In order for your child to enter a classroom, we will take a forehead temperature check (99.9 or less) and verify that they have not been exposed to C19 symptoms in the past 14 days. If you or your children have, they will not be allowed to enter the building. This is for the safety and wellness of all families.
  • If you are not ready to let your child go to class, feel free to keep them with you in the worship service (assuming they have no symptoms). We have coloring packets available at the entrance to the sanctuary. Please feel free to bring whatever might keep them “happy” during the service as well.
  • If your child becomes “unhappy” during the service, please take them out of the viewing room to settle them down. The front lobby or grassy lawn area are available for that.
GENERAL INFORMATION:
  • DOORS OPEN 30 MINUTES BEFORE EACH SERVICE – Families will be seated on a “first-come” basis. You will be seated by an usher/host with “social distancing” in mind. There should be at least 2 chairs left empty between family units on any row, and every other row will be blocked off in each service. Some seats will be reserved in advance for staff, leaders and volunteers serving that morning. Please be flexible with your expectations as we are making our best effort to serve everyone with excellence.
  • FAMILIES DISMISSED BY ROWS – At the end of each service, we will dismiss families one row at a time. We ask every family to exit the building promptly and not gather in the foyer, lobby, or hallways to fellowship. However, please feel free to gather and fellowship outside where we have more room and fresh air.
  • COFFEE & SERMON NOTES – To reduce the risk of spreading germs, we will not be serving coffee or passing out bulletins/sermon notes at this time.
"SOCIAL DISTANCING" GUIDELINES:
  • If you or someone in your family have had the C19 virus (or symptoms) in the last 14 days, we strongly suggest you watch our services online. We certainly want to practice "safe fellowship" with all families in mind.
  • We ask everyone to follow the "6 Foot" rule when you're around other non-family members. And, if you need to get close to others, we strongly suggest you wear a mask. We have free masks in the lobby.
  • Restroom policy. Restrooms are open on the main hallway. Changing tables are available in each restroom. Please wipe down anything you touch for the safety of everyone else. After using the restroom facilities, please wash your hands with warm water and soap. Our volunteer team will be available to help with any needs.
NURSING MOTHERS:
  • We have set up an area in our Nursery room for nursing mothers only. Please do not use this area for childcare or overflow purposes. Please wipe down everything you touch for the safety of everyone else.
PRAYER & OFFERING:
  • Prayer Partners will not be praying for individuals due to “social distancing” guidelines in place. However, we will pray for all needs during the service at the direction of a pastor or worship leader.
  • Offering buckets will no longer be passed for the collection of tithes and offerings. You may give online, enclose your “gift” in a giving envelope and place it in the basket at the Welcome Center, or mail it to the church office.
OVERFLOW AREA:
  • Should the sanctuary fill up in either service, we have an overflow room available in the Youth Room (located on the back hallway, first room on the left.) Out of respect for all families, if your child becomes upset, please take them out of the viewing room to settle them down
SERVE WITH US:
  • Due to COVID-19, many of our volunteers are not able or ready to serve for various reasons at this time. Therefore, we need additional volunteers to help us greet, usher, and serve in various areas. If you are able and ready to serve, please let us know. Email julie@generationschurch.net & we will get you plugged in to a serve team!
LIFE GROUPS:
  • Life Groups will be taking a summer break in June and July. However, each group may be meeting socially on their own. If you are in a Life Group, please check with your leader for details. If you are not in a Life Group but would like to be, please email kimberly@generationschurch.net and she will assist you.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT PRAYER:
  • Join us for Prayer Wednesdays at 6pm in the Youth Room! (No Childcare)  Praying for our families, our church, our nation, and for God’s will to be done “on earth as it is in heaven” across the globe!
BIBLE STUDIES & CLASSES:
  • Bible Studies and Classes have started meeting again according to the church calendar. Please be reading your weekly emails and looking for future announcements at church and on social media. If you have any questions, please email julie@generationschurch.net
REAL YOUTH (Grades 6-12):
  • REALYOUTH will continue their “Outdoor Hangouts” on The GC Lawn Wednesday nights from 7:00 – 8:30pm. For more information, please email Pastor Jacquelyn Foster at jacquelynfoster7@gmail.com
