Sheri Smith

About the author

Sheri Smith considers herself lucky to have TWO passions. She is a caterer since 1990 and writes in her spare time. Poetry, screenplays, and more. In the 60’s, at the tender age of seven, she was on Broadway and did the longest running, national M&M commercial (“melts in your mouth, not in your hand”). She was the tall one and you can see it on her YouTube channel. (Copy and paste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xUXuVcYbjfo) She did soaps and print and sung chorus on the Singing Nun’s album. The family decided it was in her best interest to put that career aside and focus on education. In the 70’s she decided to enlist in the Navy because she wanted to become an EMT in civilian life when she completed her tour of duty. Unfortunately it was the 70’s and women were just beginning to get there “lib” on. There were NO female EMT’s at the time. Companies refused to hire women, so she abandoned this dream. She started auditioning again, but didn’t get many jobs at this time in her life, so she started working for production companies. In the 80’s she worked for some of the most prestigious producers in Hollywood reading scripts and worked on films in multiple capacities. She had a passion for food and service so she did craft service and worked on catering trucks. This led to her current passion as an event specialist. In the 90’s she bought a catering company and in nine years grew it to 3.5 million dollar gross. They were the backstage caterers for Irvine Meadows Amphitheatre. The company catered to most of the schools in SoCal doing their awards banquets, then branched out to corporate events and socials (weddings, birthdays, Quinceañeras, etc.) After 9/11, she moved to the Big Island where she built a Castle-themed vacation rental. She toured guests and did destination weddings, while selling events in SoCal. CastleInHawaii caught the eye of KHON2 News and Olena Heu came from Oahu to do a “piece”. You can see it on her YouTube channel (copy and paste: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UtHipVy6jAM&t=2s). She flew back and forth from Hawaii to SoCal to coordinate events. Focused on ChocolateFountainSoCal.com because it never gets old. She writes when not orchestrating and coordinating events from intimate weddings to huge corporate events and everything in between. She swims daily and works out at the gym and "pupsits". Mama Drama, A Memoir of Acceptance, A Journey with Dementia and Bipolar book launch is upcoming, so stay tuned and “follow the author”. You won’t be disappointed.
