The past brought them together. It could also tear them apart.

Jake Conners is ready to put the past behind him and give his son—the one good thing to come out of a disastrous relationship—the best he can. Moving to Sunnyville to rebuild their lives and repair the friendship his ex ruined is the new beginning they both need.

The last thing either of them wants is a relationship, but as their friendship grows their connection becomes harder to deny. With each encounter Jake’s heart opens more and Mallory’s love for Maddox is one the toddler never received from anyone other than Jake.

But when Mallory's link to Jake’s past is revealed the fallout leaves her without a place to live and a broken heart. With the threat her family represents, she's forced to accept the budding relationship the three of them have is gone.

Devastated and with no hope of getting the thing she wants most—a family with Jacob and Maddox—Mallory is willing to put everything—including her life—on the line to ensure her stepsister can never again hurt the two people she loves most.

ARC Review
Fallout is a book about single dad Jake Conners and Mallory Dawson who comes to Sunnyville to meet her nephew (Jake's son) and solve what happened to her stepsister.
The plot of the book was okay and well developed. I just couldn't find any connection with the book and characters. For me also sometimes there happened unnecessary descriptions which really put me off. I managed to finished this book but it was really hard.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review.

Just a little quick bit, if you're thinking you're going to read hot smutty romance please put this book down. There are some references of sexy adult times but that's it.

Anyways, onto my review for Fallout. This is the story of Mallory Dawson who went to Sunnyville in order to help faciliate or help mediate a meeting of step-mother Donna to Maddox and Jacob Conner. Well pretty much Donna wants to meet her grandson Maddox. But, after what her Daughter did to Maddox , Jacob / Jake as no intentions of allowing her anywhere near him again or anyone related to her. But, what Jake doesn't know is that Renee his ex-wife has a living family. She told him she was orphaned, so he thought why would she lie. But after the years with Renee he found out there is more to her than meets the eye. Mallory again comes to Sunnyvile prepared, she knows where her nephew and ex-brother in law live. But how to approach them? When circumstances takes a foot and brings them face to face. Can Mallory tell Jake the truth and why she is here? They both start to grow feelings for one another. Jake had a hard time trusting people especially after what Renee did and he didn't like that. He trusts his best friend and his wife Maz but he owes them a lot. But they are happy to help him, well all his friends are happy to help him cope and do what they can for him and his son. Anyways, this is definitely an emotional read with some talk of mental issues, drug issues. Anyways, I found this book to thought provoking and wondered what to do in cases like this. I do like this book, but at the end I wished there was some talk of sexy adulting time with Jake and Lory.

Mallory's come to see about setting up a possible meeting between her stepmother and her stepsister's son. She wants to make amends for all the horrible things her stepsister has done to Maddox and his father, but she has to be delicate about it. She knows she should just tell Jake who she really is, but after forging a connection with them, she just can't seem to find the right time to do so. Things will implode once her real connection to them comes out, but until then, she'll just have to make sure she gets everything in place for Maddox, and will just have to live with the fallout afterward.

This is a sweet story. I appreciated the fact that they connected on an emotional level, but the lack of intensity (steam) caused me to wonder just how strong their feelings really were. Still, the writing was great and the characters very likable, so 3.5 stars is fair.

Jake has moved back to Sunnyville with his tiny human son to rebuild their lives after the disastrous relationship he had with said tiny human's mother. Mallory is in Sunnyville to fix what her step sister broke, and she ends up staying in Jake's garage apartment. Jake has no clue that Mallory is linked to his past, which won't be pretty once that secret is out, and you already know it will come out. See, Mallory seriously imprinted on little Maddox, and showed him the love that no one else has done except Jake so the fallout is going to be brutal. In the mix as well was the fact that these two grownups were falling for each other, and while Mallory should have fessed up, I understood why she was scared to. Jake breaks her heart, and yet, Mallory is so selfless that she'll still sacrifice whatever it takes (including her own life) for Jake & Maddox after he treated her so hurtfully which means I had her back all the way. Will Jake ever get past the anger to allow Mallory in his life again?! You'll have to hit those one click buttons to find out, but be prepared, the angst is intense! HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

A highly emotional read. I absolutly loved Mallory, Maddox and Jacob.
Since most readers are looking for a steamy read, I must warn you, this book is focused arround Maddox's need to be protected. I really recommend it to all single parent book lovers.
Maddox is a sweet little boy that was born out if his mother's greed. He was a means to an end, and in his short life he already went through so much. It's no wonder Jacob's only concern is his son.  Mallory hides a secret, one that could make it impossible for her to be part of Maddox and Jacob's life. But she and Jacob have one thing in common beside the attraction they can't seem to get rid of no matter how much they try. The both love Maddox and would do anything to protect him.
I loved how they didn’t fall straight into a relationship, it was slowly built and seeing the circumstances around Jacob becoming single parent, I liked that he put his son first. It's not a simple love story, is so much more.
I'm sad to see some readers disregard a book just because it's not full of steam. Not once did I feel the need to stop reading. It's my first book by the author and I it definitely wouldn't be my last.

I’m so happy we finally get to read Jake and Mallory’s story and what an emotional journey these two went through to get their HEA. My heart melted at the utter love and devotion Jake had for his son, Maddox “MadMan” and their interactions together. I adored Mallory “Lory” and her determination in doing whatever she could to protect Maddox from his unstable mother and trying to make sure he stayed with Jake and keeping those around them safe. She and Maddox were so sweet together. I really enjoyed Jake and Mallory’s developing relationship from friendship to something more but her secret would lead to a fallout that could risk any future they might have together. Their story was an emotional one that had me devouring the book because I couldn’t wait to see what would happen next. I loved seeing Ry, Maz and the rest of the gang throughout this book and showing their support to Jake and Maddox. I loved this book by Rhian Cahill and it was totally worth the wait.

This is such a brilliant read.
Jake will do anything to keep his son Maddox safe, especially after what his mother put him through
Mallory was sent on a mission by her stepmother to see if it would be possible to have access to her grandson but she didn't think that she would start to have feelings for Jake.
Both start to have feelings but when Jake finds out who she is her sends her packing but Mallory will do everything in her power to keep them safe from her stepsister.
So much drama and some suspense but also so much emotion but can they find a way back to each other.
A beautifully written story that will keep you hooked.

5 Stars for this emotional story!

This story just broke my heart! What Maddox went through at the hands of his mother is absolutely appalling ... be warned for triggers. Mallory was just a sweetheart ... but I don't think she should have kept the secret. And Jake ... he just wanted to keep his son safe PERIOD! I did not read the previous two books in the series and at times I was a little confused because of it. Example: Jake and Ry had the same last name ... at first, I thought they were brothers, but then found out they were best friends. But I still don't know how they had the same last name ... was that explained in a previous book? It didn't take away from the story ... it just had me scratching my head. I'm going to have to go back and read those books.

Jake is Maddox's dad and didn't even know he was a dad until Maddox was about six months old. At that time Jake got sole custody because Maddox's mother left him alone for a day ... a six-month-old! Then during a visitation, she took Maddox for 3 weeks ... and did god knows what to him during that time. Now Jake is scared for Maddox to even leave his sight, but he knows he has to move on ... for both their sakes. Mallory and Maddox's mother are step-sisters ... but they are nothing alike. In fact, Mallory is doing everything she can to keep her in jail, so that she will never be able to hurt that little boy again. When Jake and Mallory meet, neither one of them could predict the chemistry between them. But Jake has no clue that Mallory even knows Maddox's mom and this secret could destroy them.

Loved Mallory and Jake's story. Their journey wasn't an easy one, and with the best intentions Mallory had you knew the Jake's reaction would be what it was. Lots of chemistry between these two, and her relationship with Madman was so sweet. Loved every page of their story.

What would you do if the past that brought you together could also tear you apart?

Fallout is the story of Mallory Dawson and Jacob Conner. Jacob is ready to put his past behind him and start new with his son Maddox, the only good this that came from his past relationship. Moving to Sunnyville was first step to rebuilding their lives. Mallory travels to Sunnyville to right the wrongs her sister did and to make amends. However, she never meant to get close Jacob and fall in love with his son.

The last thing that they wanted was a relationship, but their attraction to each over time becomes undeniable. Over time Jacob opens up more and Mallory gives something to Maddox that he's never received from someone other than his father; her love. When Mallory's real motives before being in Sunnyville are reveal, their "fallout" is inevitable.

This wasn't my typical romance. If you're looking for a book that is full of sexy times, it is not this book. While those times are alluded to, you don't get to step inside the bedroom with the characters. Fallout is a sweet and heartfelt story. It was emotional and really made you think. Despite the lack of intimacy that I love, I would recommend this book.

Jacob Connor hasn’t had it easy for the last few years .. with a crazy ex girlfriend and a son he didn’t know about would make anyone a little jittery. Jacob is finally getting his life all straightened out after all of the craziness Renee put him through. He just wants a quite normal life with Maddox because he hasn’t had it easy either because of Renee.
He buys a house in a nice neighborhood because with Ry and Maz starting his own family he knows it is time for the two of them to have there own space BUT Jake never bargained for the tenant that lives in the garage apartment .. Mallory !! He never thought he would ever feel those feelings again for anyone other than Max BUT Mallory even thought she is younger has him thinking about .. Love and Family. But what he doesn’t know about Mallory is going to make his head spin !!
Mallory is just trying to help out the only person she has left as family .. her step mother. But what she is asking and having Mallory do will not end well for Mallory because she is falling for what she has always wanted too .. Love and Family !!
Can these two forget about the horrible things family can do to each other and just have LOVE ?? Or will what happened be to detrimental for them to go on ….
Loved there Love story !!

This is book three in a series. I have not read the first two books and although Fallout is a stand alone book I really feel that to get the best from this book, you do need to read them in order. This would put much of happens in this book into context as well as understanding the how the other characters fit in.

That said it was an enjoyable read. Jake is very protective of his son Maddox, after Maddox's mum disappeared with Maddox and locked him in, left him alone and gave him drugs whilst she went out. Mallory is Maddox's mother stepsister, she and her step mother want be a part of Maddox's life. It's safe to say that Jake and Mallory's journey is far from smooth. Mallory doesn't tell Jake that she is Maddox's mother stepsister, she knows she has to tell him but she fears his reaction will mean she can't see Maddox. The emotional rollercoaster that is Jake and Mallory will make you smile and yes on occasions laugh, but you also get the heartbreaks and tears as well. I did think that the ending was rather abrupt and so much more could have been included. The double epilogue did help in this regard but for me there was still missing threads that needed closure.

Amazing story! I loved how Mallory was so protective of Jake’s son, even without knowing them at all. Jake was just trying to raise Maddox without craziness. They had a wonderful connection. The ending was awesome!

I wasn’t quite sure to expect from this book, but falling firmly into adoration and the “I’m on her team” sentiments for Mallory weren’t on the list. At least, not quite as quickly as I did. Mallory is utterly selfless, knows she’s going to be despised when the truth comes out, and still does every single thing she can to break her own heart while trying to keep Jake and Maddox safe. Who wouldn’t love a woman like that? Even when the truth is out, battle lines are drawn, hate is in the air, and Mallory is definitely on the outside looking in, she puts everything on the line to make things right. And I do mean everything.

Jake is a helicopter dad, and who could blame him? Knowing what he’s been through, his unease and worry are 100% understandable and valid. He just isn’t counting on the one person he meets beyond family becoming the one who could make or break him. Nor does he expect to fall head over heels for that person. Or trust her with his world. But he’s got to stop and think before cutting all ties, and once emotions are finally pointing where they should, he has to hope it’s not too late.

I didn’t read Rylan and Maz’s story, but I wasn’t lost here. I still easily understood the ties that bound everyone and the love and support they shared. And I still managed to love this book because Mallory was so utterly lovable. So you won’t be confused by this one if you’re a newbie like me, and you certainly won’t be disappointed with every new piece of the puzzle as we go.

We are back in Sunnydale, with our favorite characters, and a couple of newbies that you are going to love. Rhian Cahill has finally been able to finish FallOut. And I’m so glad that she did.

This is a relatively tame story about a single dad and his way of dealing with the hand he’s been dealt. It’s also about a woman who just wants to do the right thing, even if she goes about it the wrong way.

This is going to be an emotional read for some, and that’s ok, I like it when a story taps into those moments and actually make you feel something.

Rhian Cahill simply writes good stories, and yes this one is pretty innocent but it holds its own without needing to get dirty. Go get this one, you are going to love it.

Jake is a single father who will protect his son at all cost. His sons mother is not a nice person and he wants nothing to do with her. He has moved closer to his best friend in and hopes to have a fresh start in life. Mallory is also new to town and has a few secrets. As she gets to know Jake and and his son better she falls deeper into her secrets and falls hard for a man and his son. This was a emotional read with a few twist. I enjoyed the fast paced story and the detailed characters. It was a great slow burn that was worth the wait.

This book is about redemption for someone else's sin. Lana~White Hot Reads

Mallory Dawson comes to town to make amends with Jake and Maddock for the way she treated them. Unbeknownst to Mallory, she never expected to fall for Jake and sweet baby Maddock. Maddock's takes to Mallory like no other and once Jake finds out what she's been hiding, he explodes. Even though he thinks the worst of her, she ends up surprising him at every turn. A wonderful conclusion to the characters within each other books Rhian Cahill wrote for this world.

I believe this story could happen. I have heard of stranger things… six degrees of separation and all. Wink.

Mallory and Jacob have a connection that is dark but meant to be especially as all is revealed. I have read all the books in this series and I was so excited to get back into this world. The characters surrounding our couple are beloved and have a purpose. Whispers, “You need to read their stories too.” Wink wink.

This story gets angsty and touching in all the right parts. Probably my only critique is that at one point I felt like I was missing an important part of the story. The authors comments after the story explains all. I appreciate the why but I do wish I had more information. All that aside, this story is awesome.

Happy Reading Everyone! XOXO

I was not expecting such a sweet and heartfelt romance. Every minute of this story is fantastic and one I would recommend. Two characters brought together in unexpected circumstances. Their connection is instantaneous but will secrets and half truths hurt them? Grab this and be prepared to read in an afternoon or evening because you will want to see how it all turns out.

Oh what a Fallout there is from Flashback!!!

Though you don't have to read Flyboy or Flashback first - as it is I think I need to go back & re-read Flyboy - all the characters...ahhh!

Loved this story! Jake & Mallory (Lory) & of course MadMan! And oooooh Donna...& ack Renee!

"Warning": there's no sex in this book, but I don't see how the author could have added it - it just wouldn't have worked with Jake & Lory, but they get their HEA!!

It was great to see all the other characters from Flashback & Flyboy

I just finished Fallout by Rhian Cahill. It’s part of the Everyday Heroes World books of which there are 78. These books are written by a variety of authors, and some are interconnected. There are others written by Cahill, but I’m not sure which overlap.

Jake Conners has moved to Sunnyville after a divorce. He has sole custody of his son Maddox after his ex-wife Renee kidnapped their son and neglected and abused him. Jake is looking for a new start. Mallory is Renee’s stepsister and knows just how horrible Renee can be. She visits Sunnyville in order to give police information that will keep Renee locked up for good. She also manages yo meet Jake and Maddox but never tells them her connection yo Renee. As Jake and Mallory get to know one another, there’s a chemistry and an attraction, but before anything can happen, Jake discovers Mallory’s sin of omission and wants nothing to do with her. Once Jake realizes all that Mallory has done to protect his don, he may change his mind, but not if Renee can settle her score first.

First I have to say that this book has some great qualities even though it is not necessarily my cup of tea. If you like a super, squeaky-clean romance, then this is the book for you. I do like the characters. Jake and Mallory are interesting and have good qualities. The narrative is good, and I really like the fact that Mallory is there to keep Maddox protected. I’d like to know more about the characters of Jake and Rylan. It’s mentioned multiple times that they have the same last name, look similar but are not related, and have even taken a DNA test which proved they aren’t related. But are they? It’s brought up enough times that it seems like more than just a throwaway bit of information. There are two things that are negatives for me. One is that this is mainly a telling not showing book. The characters are in their heads a lot. The other thing is that this book is sooooooooooo clean. They kiss one time at the 93% mark. We know they’ve had sex because we’re told, but we get nothing. Zero steam. That issue is totally personal to me. I know for a fact that there are many readers who prefer clean romance books, and if that is you, I can highly recommend this book. It’s fast-paced and easy to read. There’s some excitement, and I truly love how Jake is portrayed as a father. Let me know if you read this - I’d love to know what you think!

Jake and Mallory’s story in Fallout by Rhian Cahill, part of K. Bromberg’s Everyday Heroes World project, is wonderful, and very emotional. Jake has moved to Sunnyville with his son, Maddox “MadMan”, to rebuild their lives after the disastrous relationship he had with his son’s unstable mother. Mallory is in Sunnyville to fix what her stepsister broke, and she ends up staying in Jake's garage apartment. She is determined to do whatever she could to protect Maddox, make amends for all the horrible things her stepsister has done to Maddox and his father, and make sure he stayed with Jake; but she has to be delicate about it. She knows she should just tell Jake who she really is, but after forging a connection with them, she just can't seem to find the right time to do so. These two have an instant-connection and are adorable together as their relationship developed from friendship to something, more; but her secret would lead to a fallout that could risk any future they might have together. Things implode once her real connection to them comes out, but until then, she'll just have to make sure she gets everything in place for Maddox, and will just have to live with the fallout afterward. I loved revisiting with Ry, Maz and the rest of the gang throughout this book and showing their support to Jake and Maddox

Ms. Cahill wrote an amazing, enjoyable romance that should definitely not be missed. She provided a story with off the chart chemistry, a caring community, and charming secondary characters helping Mallory, Jake, and Maddox get their happily ever after. I enjoyed and highly recommend Fallout to other readers.

Jake is back in Sunnyville with Maddox, moving closer to the people he cares about. He doesn't trust anyone with Madman after everything that has happened. His son was kidnapped, neglected & drugged by his mother Renee before the police caught up to her. Leaving him with just anyone is not gonna happen!
Mallory is in Sunnyville to speak with the lead detective in her sisters case, with the plan of keeping her behind bars. Her other job, facilitate a meeting between Maddox & his grandmother(Renee's mom) before she takes matters into her own hands. Mallory doesn't expect the chemistry to be so hot when she meets Jake, and she has a secret that could destroy any trust she has earned.
If you are looking for a steamy, hot love story, you're in the wrong place this time! This was a story of learning to trust someone, when your trust has been shattered into oblivion. There is a bit of angst, suspense, a great story line & talk of "adult alone time". I also enjoyed getting to hear about some of the characters from past stories & see where they are now! I was gifted an ARC copy in return for my honest review, enjoy!

I enjoyed this book, but this is one of those times I wish I’d read the preceding book first. Not because I couldn’t follow along or was missing important information…I myself. just wanted a better handle on a few key points, as well as wanting to read the stories of Jake’s friends.
Jake and Mallory are likable characters, despite the fact that Mallory keeps very important information from him about her connection to his son Maddox. I see chemistry between them in words, but any deeds are alluded to but kept off page. Mallory, to me, has a unnecessary sense of obligation to her stepmother, which bothered me through most of the book. Jake was very much a nervous dad, but it’s sweet and understandable, given the circumstances. And Maddox adorable.
Like I said, the secondary characters intrigued me, so I’ll be backtracking to read their stories, but I love their unwavering support of Jake and Maddox, as well as their protectiveness. This is my first Rhian Cahill book but I’ve read and enjoyed many from the Everyday Heroes World. I’ll be back for more of both.

This is not only the first book that I've read from this author, it's also the first book from The Everyday Heroes World that I've read and since I generally stick with authors that I already know and like, I was a bit wary. Happy to say that I really enjoyed this book. It was a slow burn, maybe too slow for some, but I felt that the story continued to build from start to finish in a way that felt very natural. The storyline was intriguing and for the most part I didn't miss not having read any of the other books. The exception to that was the last section brought back a lot of characters that have already been introduced through other books. I did flounder a bit here with the introduction with so many characters all at once. While I liked the story overall, I probably would have enjoyed it a bit more had the romance build a bit quicker throughout, rather than just in the last section. I would be happy to read more from this author in the future.

Although Jake regrets ever getting involved with his son’s mother, he could never regret his son Maddox.
