TARGET AUDIENCE:

Designed for new or experienced special education teachers, related service professionals, and special education directors. We encourage mentor teachers to attend with new special education teachers to foster a shared learning experience.


DESCRIPTION:
We are going paperless! For the training, please bring a laptop or tablet that can connect to the internet. You'll need it to access resources and type during activities. If you prefer paper copies, all training materials are available in an accessible digital format that can be downloaded and printed individually prior to training, but printed materials aren’t required. You will receive an email with access to the training materials at least one week prior to the training date. If printing materials represents a barrier for you, please reach out to Vanessa Staudacher at vstaudacher@uidaho.edu

Essential Components of the IEP is a training designed for new special educators and those wanting to enhance their knowledge. Participants can expect to:

  • Examine each component of the IEP and learn how to create a document that is both meaningful and actionable.
  • Consider the annual LEA Checklist Review Tool for each IEP component
  • Discuss the importance of building a collaborative IEP team.
  • Learn how to implement, maintain, and amend the IEP based on student progress and team decisions.


MATERIALS TO BRING:

  • Laptop or tablet (computing device that can connect to the internet for accessing resources and typing during activities)
  • If you prefer paper copies, all training materials are available in an accessible digital format that can be downloaded and printed individually prior to training, but printed materials aren’t required.


FOOD & DRINK:

SESTA is a grant-funded program and food, and beverages are not allowable expenses; snacks and meals won't be provided. Please plan accordingly and consider nearby/onsite dining options when available.
