Nos acompaña nuevamente Maria Fe Celi, antropóloga e investigadora social peruana, actual estudiante de doctorado en historia global en la Universidad de Shanghái; hizo su maestría en estudios del desarrollo en la Universidad de Sussex y licenciada en antropología de la Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú.

We took a while to release this one; we interviewed Natylie back in 2022, shortly before the Russia-Ukraine war broke out. Vanessa didn't feel super comfortable with the timing, so it got held back for a long time. But the discussion is evergreen and valuable, so here it is! Understanding the historical view from Moscow & learning from its recent past and its brutal neoliberal trauma.

Our guest is Natylie Baldwin, the author of The View from Moscow: Understanding Russia and U.S.-Russia Relations, and an analyst specializing in US-Russia relations.
From her bio: In October of 2015, Natylie traveled to 6 cities in the Russian Federation and has written several articles based on her conversations and interviews with a cross-section of Russians.  She traveled to Moscow and St. Petersburg in May of 2017 to view the Victory Day celebrations and to do research on the Russian Revolution and how Russians commemorated the centennial. Her writing has appeared in various publications including The Grayzone, Consortium News, Antiwar.com, Covert Action Magazine, RT, OpEd News, The Globe Post, The New York Journal of Books, and Dissident Voice. We were very grateful for her time and expertise, and we hope you enjoy the interview and analysis.

La entrevista surgió por un artículo que escribió Karen (el enlace abajo) que nos tocó el corazón y nos hizo eco en cuanto a nuestra experiencia. We interviewed Lithuanian-American author Silvia Foti, who wrote "The Nazi's Granddaughter: How I Discovered My Grandfather was a War Criminal"  and buckle up, because it's a super interesting ride into how Silvia found out the very painful history of her grandfather, Jonas Noreika, or "General Storm" who was hailed as a Lithuanian war hero, while in reality, he had been an anti-Soviet partisan and Nazi collaborator.

We dive deep into the interesting dynamics of Austrian, and to an extent overall European, politics with Natascha Strobl, an Austrian political scientist, expert on right-wing extremism and the New Right. She is the author of the newly released book, Radicalised Conservatism / Radikalisierter Konservatismus, a study into the "hard right agenda [being] pushed through by stoking a constant mood of anxiety towards a vague 'other'" (Irish Times). 

The lead-up to the eventual exit of Sebastian Kurz, labor shortages & workers issues, women's issues and feminism, the Peruvian elections in 2021, as well as a bit of friendly banter on the 2021 Euro Cup, this episode covers it all and then some.
