California Community Colleges Advanced Manufacturing INTERNSHIPS - COMPANY Interest Form (Spring 2019)
Grant funding for INTERNSHIPS NOW CLOSED for this semester. You may still sign-up below to show your interest for future semesters. Of course, you can always hire a community college intern without requesting grant funds.

*************

Dear Industry Colleagues,

Are you having difficulties finding skilled trades employees (machinists, welders, maintenance techs, electronic techs, etc.) for your manufacturing company? California Community Colleges have thousands of students enrolled in skilled trades and manufacturing programs – and many of them are looking for part-time opportunities to gain experience, and most importantly to find a company to start their professional career.

Your local community colleges are looking for companies that would be interested in hiring skilled trades interns part-time during the spring semester of 2019. The expectation is that interns would work about 150 hours for the company (suggested - 2 days a week for 10 weeks). Companies would interview and hire the student(s) of their choice.

The colleges have received funding* that will allow them to partially offset the costs of the internship. The expectation is that companies would pay the interns $15/hour, and the grant would reimburse the companies up to $1500 for half of their costs (wages, FICA, UI, etc.). This is a great opportunity to find your next hire and connect with your local community college.

If interested in hiring an intern, please fill out the form below and we’ll contact you with more details. You're not committing at this time, so please fill out even if you're just thinking about it.

Thanks,
Advanced Manufacturing Sector Team

The expectation is that the internship would be for approximately 150 hours and would work around the student's school schedule. Pay would be $15/hour and the intern would be hired by your company (or a temp agency that you work with). This would need to be for an intern that is new to your company. The grant ends in June 2019. If eligible, the grant will pay half of the company's costs up to $1500. Are there any concerns, questions, suggestions around hiring the intern? *
We would consider shorter internships if needed. And certainly if you and the student agree, longer internships as well.
