CONVERSATIONS FROM THE FIELD
The California Association of Infant Mental Health is pleased to announce a fifth small group open conversation for anyone providing services to young children and their families in California. Our groups will provide an opportunity to deeply understand and collaborate on various topics currently affecting all professionals servicing the most vulnerable population during these difficult times of COVID-19. The sessions will be facilitated by the Clinical Intervention Committee using the Zoom platform. This meeting is to have a small group discussion so please register soon to save your space.
Conversations from the Field : Supporting Foster and Bio Families
Description
Working with young children in the child welfare system and their families is stressful. In this conversation we will reflect on our experiences and learn how others are managing.
Facilitators' Biographies
Dr. Elvia Cortes is the founder and director of FINE Infant Program servicing young children in California. Her years of experience include program design, leadership, and training to support professional capacities in the field of Infant Mental Health and Early Childhood education. Dr. Cortes’ research relates to foster parents’ experiences helping young foster children and recognizes that supporting the foster care community is essential for helping children form positive relationships early in life.
Dr. Richard Cohen has worked with young children and their bio- and foster families for 20 years. In the last decade he has also worked extensively with those who support those families.
