PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE

Thank you to all of the families that completed the online School Climate Survey. Brant Ave families had the highest response rate in the entire school board!

The weather is starting to feel like spring...but we still have some cold and wet weather ahead. Please make sure that students continue to come to school with boots and clothes that can handle the weather. Also, please don’t forget to put your child’s name on all clothes. A black marker can be used to write initials on the tags. This really helps to get their clothing back to them from the lost and found.

STUDENT LATES AND EARLY PICKUP
School starts at 8:55am and ends at 3:15pm. We are finding many students are arriving late and/or being picked-up early. Unless there is a special event (appointment, etc.), students should be at school on time and stay until the end of the day. Thank you for your support.

MOVING?

Planning for the 2018-19 school year is already underway.  If you will be moving this summer, or know of someone moving into the school area, please notify the office as soon as possible.  This will help with the organization of teachers and classrooms at Brant Avenue.

FOOD & FRIENDS & POPCORN

Please participate in our Help Kids Live Free from Hunger Campaign that supports our Food & Friends student nutrition program by making a donation online http://weblink.donorperfect.com/LiveFreeDonation2018 or sending a donation with your child/youth by March 2, 2018.  Every dollar raised at our school comes back to support our School Snack Program. Popcorn will be sold again this Thursday and Friday to support this great cause.

3UP 2DOWN

Our 3Up, 2Down focus for March will be about decreasing screen time.  Screen time includes: tablets, smartphones, watching T.V., and playing video games.  It is recommended that school age children spend no more than 2 hours on screen time daily, so they can spend more time being active, keeping fit, playing, and talking with friends and family.  Please see below for ideas and tips on decreasing screen time.

Parents, if you would like support in helping to reduce screen time for your children or other parenting challenges, feel free to contact Katie Davis, Parent Outreach Worker, Brant Neighbourhood Group at kdavis@guelphchc.ca
