The Ba Trieu School of Consciousness is an intensive youth leadership development program for Vietnamese / Vietnamese-American high school youth who see a need to enact positive change in their local communities. Any youth who are in high school (this year and/or next year) is eligible.

Participants will experience group workshops and skills training to address racial and ethnic identity, gender expression and identity, discrimination, and family relationships, among other topics. Students will explore the rich history of Vietnam as inspiration for grappling with the social issues present in their schools, communities, and larger society.

Students will walk away with leadership skills to create meaningful change in their families, schools and communities. Additionally, they will have a better understanding of the nature and development of effective strategies to enact positive change and be effective leaders in their local community.

The program consists of a three-day weekend and two day-long follow-up meetings. Food and local South Bay transportation with be provided. Students will decide on an action project by the end of the first weekend and then convene for two more meetings for support on their projects. Participants will be provided mentorship and support for the duration of the program.
