Fearsome Roar

Amos

Amos 1:1-2

Amos starts with a roar

We begin our series from the Book of Amos by looking at the circumstances behind and the nature of this powerful prophecy.

 Discovery Questions

Self-reflection:

Read Amos 1:1-2, or through 2:3. What might Jesus roar about in our society? In the American church? In my life?

With your family:

This whole series will be a challenge to work through with your kids. Explain how Israel persistently disobeyed God and how they must have felt when they read this part of Amos.

With your small group:

  1. Read Amos 1:1-2, or through 2:3.
  2. What stands out to you in these verses? Why?
  3. What bothers you about these verses? Why?
  4. Discuss the self-reflection question above.
  5. How should we respond to Jesus who will judge and condemn the lost to a horrible eternity? What about this causes you difficulty?
  6. Given this passage, what should you do this week?
