As an organization we cater to all and not just those in our society, we have several events throughout the year to showcase the continent, its people, its food, clothing, and its diverse cultures and other aspects to all. Our mission is to foster a culturally diverse environment and reinforce unity among its members and all students regardless of their individual, race, ethnicity, and religion etc. We promote a greater understanding of the African continent and its diverse cultures and traditions, and also to welcome the incoming freshmen to our unique African community at Alief Taylor high school. We build rapport between ourselves, we respect each other’s background and come as one to make our Club successful. An estimated 600 students of the 4 High Schools and 5 Middle Schools in the Alief area attend this club. Approximately 75% qualify for free and reduced lunch due to financial limitations. The approximate racial demographics or the outreach population are: 40% Black/African-American, 40% Hispanic, 15% Asian, and 5% Caucasian. This youth-led sponsored club is a fundamental outreach that has an open invitation to all students interested in belonging to a positive peer group that is based on biblical standards and morality.
