Are you new to POETRY or SPOKEN WORD or a queen or king of SLAM? Do you want to learn from one of the BEST! Would you like to win up to $400 in cash prizes?
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Xi Omega Chapter invites students ages 13 to 17 to participate this virtual poetry workshop and showcase hosted by Alyesha Wise, acclaimed poet, co-founder of S.L.A.M. (Spoken Literature Art Movement) and featured performer on OWN Networks Love Goals. Alyesha will offer students valuable tips on writing and performing poetry as part of the WORKSHOP. Students will then have the opportunity to present their work and compete for cash prizes as part of the SHOWCASE.
HOW IT WORKS FOR STUDENTS
- Register your interest by Tuesday, October 20, 2020.
- Complete and return the Parental Consent Form.
- Bring with you or create an awesome poem in the spirt of "Getting in Good Trouble" in honor of the late John Lewis. No profanity is permitted.
- On Saturday, October 24, 2020 at 1pm est., bring your poem to the Workshop and prepare to perform in the Showcase.
HOW IT WORKS FOR SUPPORTERS
- Register General Admission to attend the SHOWCASE only and support the talented youth in our community.
- Join the SHOWCASE on Saturday, October 24, 2020 beginning at 2pm est.
