More immigrants, more fresh blood for the militia. It is heartening. Given that Leperfish and JimmyTheD failed to provide a wall of stone, I suppose we will have to suffice with a wall of dwarves. I do hope the new overseer will begin construction of fortifications before the fortress enters its second year. Although I initially objected to this new overseer (what kind of silly name is 'OhCrap'? It is not befitting of a dwarf), especially since she is yet again sent by Sankis to rule us instead of being picked from the dwarves already present, I already have begun to like her; she speaks with much directness, unlike that Leperfish. I have not once heard a 'metaphor' from her in the month she has ruled and already she has ordered more alcohol, fixed a fatal flaw in the defenses and demanded an end to the Beer Joke. Can Leperfish claim equal accomplishments? I do not think so. Finally, on the artifact constructed by Fitzy Fitz. Frankly I do not care whether or not a cat bone toy boat can ever be considered a 'true' legendary artifact, what bothers me more is all of the materials Fitzy Fitz demanded in the process of making it. I saw him dragging entire logs of wood, and reams of silk (the entire fort's supply!) to his workshop. Perhaps he started working on an actual boat and decided that it would be too much for him, har har. I just want to know what he did with the rest of the materials. Surely he couldn't have used all of them.

From the Overseer Diary of OhCrap MountainMist, 237, Bronzestabbed Report on Glorious Artifact Shedlisid, The Ordered Clash, is an Artifact created by "FitzyFitz" FoughtPaddles in Honour of Great Flood and Axing Of Windmill in 237. I cannot quite make out Engraving. When questioned, FitzyFitz states that he was inspired by My Actions. He states that Menacing with Silk represents my Decisive Action that Saved Fortress from certain splashy doom. Beloved Husband says that it is Deserved Tribute for One So Brave. I could be Happy here I think. I am a Good Overseer. I will make Last Hope work for Dwarfkind.

Erm .. don't take the engraving as read. It appears to change between loads. The last time I looked at it, it related to the founding of Bronzestabbed. Before that, another fortress. And of course, the book captured above came up yet another time. The value of Shedlisid is 4800, less than Nethtalinsokan at 9600. A malachite floodgate is useful!

Dwarf Fortress .jpg here. Keep the content coming. In my own superfortress i just got invaded by a forgotten beast who somehow made his way into the great dining hall unnoticed. Unfortunately for him, I had about 3 idle War Dogs and a bunch of other hostile tamed dogs just idling there as well. They literally had torn off 3 of it's four limbs before a hammerdwarf came and put it out of it's misery. War Dogs, I love them! Who knew you could become a legendary bonecrafter by turning a dog's leg bone into something a dog's leg bone sort of looks like anyway?
