That last overseer was terrible I'll be honest: as much as I really want a turn at this, I almost considered not entering this round because gently caress you, there's no way to follow that. Whatever overseer follows you will be doomed to obscurity unless...well, I can't even imagine what. If I get it, I'll happily take my turn, and I'll do my best to make my name stick, but that's quite an act to follow.

I don't think it's impossible, it's just going to be really hard. On a side note, it looks like we have 11 applicants? Those odds are marginally better than last time!

I've read so many of the older LP's and there are far cleverer minds than mine around, including yours Reading back on my turn, I can think of many criticisms. I really enjoyed it and I'm glad others did too (and don't get me wrong, I appreciate the kind words!) but I think it will pale beside the rest! I can't wait to see the next chapter of the story, and what the new overseer brings to it.

I think the biggest part of your turn was getting the crowd excited. That's a hard thing to do, and maintain. In large part, it was because of your really aggressive update schedule. That helps a TON. But also it was just a good job at making it accessible and interesting. That's what subsequent overseers are trying to follow. A year or two from now, when someone reads the archive, who knows how well it'll hold up, but for the active, living thread? It was just what the LP needed.

This yields an area of 15 tiles, which is one fewer than the typical 4x4 embark area (so we should get marginally better FPS in the late game), and also makes it easier to create small-scale screenshots of the entire area that will fit nicely in a post without breaking tables. I also like oblong embarks just generally. Anyway there's an hour and 20 minutes before the 24-hour deadline, so hang tight people!

I haven't been writing much in the past while, as a dwarf of some age ive started to notice that years go by so fast! It seems like only a few weeks since little Triple a was born!! I was carving some coffins the other day when my mind went to the afterlife, that place that so many of our new friends have gone to.. So much violence makes me nervous!! Would I go to dwarfhalla? Do only dwarves worth faith go there, under that other ceiling over the blue one? Or is it good enough to be a Good Dwarf, like Oh Crap says to be? I said so to Triple A, he doesn't talk but he is a good listener when I am nervous which is a lot so I talk to him a lot. Do you even have a god, I wondered aloud. "Lorsith!" he shouted, his first words! Great... Great turn, Oh Crap. Good to see I'm still alive. Shoehead fucked around with this message at 17:14 on Jul 24, 2012 |

I have devoured this entire thread In the past two days it is so compelling. I tried to play DF once but it is just not for me. I am a god damned casual when it comes to games and would prefer a nice safe fortress in the middle of civilization that I can spend all my time polishing, engraving and furnishing with delightful artifacts. Perhaps set up a dwarf zoo and botanical garden while I'm at it. I never bothered to read these before because of my experience but I grew curious. I absolutely love the way story has unfolded so randomly, and each overseer has contributed something unique. Now I wish I had a doff to make little journals for, But maybe in the next game.
