After the Amazon Prime Video dramedy concluded its season 4 with an explosive finale last March, there are still several serious questions worth raising. What's happening with Midge (Rachel Brosnahan)'s love life? Will she finally get together with Lenny Bruce (Luke Kirby)? How is Joel (Michael Zegen)'s family going to continue reacting to his girlfriend Mei (Stephanie Hsu) being pregnant with his baby?

Will Rose (Marin Hinkle) keep going with her matchmaking business, despite receiving threats from some old-timers to stay out of their business? And if we don't get more Susie Myerson (Alex Borstein) antics next season, we're definitely going to be plotzing over here.

In other words: We're a bit desperate to know whether the show about our favorite Jewish comedienne will have a season 5. Thankfully, there are answers — though it may not be the ones we were hoping for.

Here's everything we know so far about Amazon's The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 5:

Will there be a season 5 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel?

Put your hands together because there will be a season 5 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel. But sadly, this will also be the final season. The show made the official announcement in February, and fans were not prepared to say goodbye to the series.

Unfortunately to every fan's chagrin, all good things must come to an end. In a November 5 post on Instagram, Rachel Brosnahan announced that the show not only wrapped its fifth season, but she was emotional about the experience of filming the final scenes.

"That’s a series wrap on The Marvelous Mrs Maisel," she captioned a still photo from the show. "This thing was lightning in a bottle. A cast, a crew and creators who got to time travel for 5 years together. It changed my life. I’m eternally grateful. I’ll have more words later, but for now … Thank you and goodnight."

Reflecting on her time filming the show, Alex Borstein also shared her thoughts on her own Instagram account.

"The end," she wrote on November 5. "Maisel is no more. I told myself that I wouldn’t get too close, that I wouldn’t fall in love. Yet here I am, heart fractured, with tiny chips now missing here and there ... But if and when she should mend, perhaps it will be those empty in-betweens that will remind me of what’s missing. Of what once was. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel once was. And it was marvelous, indeed. 💔."

Is there a Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 5 release date?

For those wondering The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel will come back with new season 5 episodes on April 14, 2023. The series surprised everyone with the news on March 2, while also dropping an official teaser across its social media accounts.

"Lights, camera, Midge!" read the caption on Instagram. "The final season of The Marvelous #MrsMaisel premieres April 14."

When the news about the season 5 premiere date hit the internet, some of the other cast members began promoting it as well. Rachel Brosnahan shared the official poster for her followers, writing a simple message to let fans know about when to tune in for the last of Midge's comedy routine.

"Final countdown …🎙️ April 14 🎙️," she wrote on Instagram the same day.

But that wasn't the last of the sneak peeks viewers got about season 5. On March 20, Amazon Prime dropped the official final season trailer, giving folks a last look at Midge's rise to comedy superstardom.

In the minute and a half clip, fans see the titular character at the height of her fame, signing autographs to young women who admire her trajectory outside of the traditional role women had in the 1960s. But it also gives clues to her ongoing struggle to becoming the major star she destined herself to be back in season 1.

"I want a big life," Midge says as she stares at a billboard for the fictional Gordon Ford Show. "I want to break every single rule there is."

But wait, there's more! The show's official Instagram account also released the first images for season 5, giving a better glimpse at what's to come throughout the rest of the series. Among the photos are moments between Midge and Susie, a serious moment with Lenny Bruce and even fun ice skating at Rockefeller Center.

If this is an indication for what to expect, we can't wait for the first episode to premiere.

Well, he was not only seen on set with Rachel Brosnahan in June, there's a good chance we'll learn more about his character's backstory — including his name. “We will see a nice, more extensive part 2 to ‘Milo and Rachel,'” executive producer Daniel Palladino told TVLine. “Yes, we’ll find out his name.”

But don't think this is the only Gilmore Girls star showing up this season. Kelly Bishop will also be making a return as a series regular.

What will season 5 of The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel be about?

Unfortunately, there aren't details about what The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel season 5 will be about just yet. But producers Amy Sherman-Palladino and Daniel Palladino did give some clues to The Hollywood Reporter in March about Midge's and Lenny's journey.

"Knowing that season five was going to be our last and that we only had so much turf to play on helped to free up a little bit of what we did with him personally," Amy told the outlet.

She continued: "And it felt like it fit, frankly, with the journey that Midge is on, that she’s so doggedly trying to find the right way for herself — whether it’s misguided or not — and this mission that she set herself on this year that she felt it was like, 'It’s my way or the highway.' It felt like the shake-up needed to happen from somebody who understood her, revered her."

What's more, in a June interview with People, Kevin Pollak gave his thoughts on why this is a good time to end the show with season 5.

"Amy and Dan, from the very beginning, while we were shooting season 1 before anyone had seen anything beyond the pilot, made it very clear to all of us, in success, if we're lucky enough, this is a five-season show," he told the magazine. "They saw an arc or they saw a story they wanted to tell. They saw the ending that they wanted to take."

Aside from Midge and Lenny's love life, fans will also learn more about Joel's current relationship. According to cast member Caroline Aaron, this news will stir up some drama in season 5.

"Well, I think she’s not going to be happy about the choice," she told Express in September. "I think that ultimately the best part of Shirley is that she just wants her children to be happy ... I think she will work very hard to get Mei to convert and certainly to raise this child Jewish and that will be very important to her."

They're not the only ones in for a ride during the final season. While walking the red carpet at the 2022 Emmy Awards, Alex Borstein teased a little bit about what fans can expect to see in the new episodes.

"Season 5 for Susie is fun because she's really growing and branching out and getting a little bit ahead of herself and constantly trying to kind of catch up to her own success in this season," she told The Hollywood Reporter. "So she makes a lot of mistakes and it's fun. It's fun to play a flawed character."
