The Port of Long Beach has given the owners of Berth 55/Queens Wharf/ Long Beach Sportfishing 180 days from May 25th, 2012 to vacate the premises so that a fire station can be built. While we, the undersigned, understand the importance of public safety we also strongly believe there are several other better suited sites to build a new fire station and relocate the fire boat within the Port of Long Beach. Berth 55/Queens Wharf/Long Beach Sportfishing has been at its current location for OVER 40 YEARS! It is the only place close by where Port workers can go to eat. It is also the OLDEST and ONLY place in Long Beach where residents, workers and tourists can enjoy waterfront dining with delicious seafood at great prices in a casual, relaxed indoor/outdoor atmosphere. We are also extremely concerned about the 50+employees that will lose their long time jobs as a result of this closure and the displacement of over 10 sportfishing vessel, sport scuba diving and independent commercial fishing vessels . PLEASE...PLEASE RECONSIDER!!
