SECRET JOURNAL OF FIDDLER THREE GRANITECLOISTER IF YOU ARE NOT FIDDLER THREE GRANITECLOISTER, DO NOT READ 19th Obsidian 238 I am unclear. Yesterday I visited the Hospital and petitioned Grandfather to Assign me to the Creations of Luck. He looked unwell of body and spirit and uttered, "Ugath take you! We are doomed anyways." This sounds like permission? But as yet I am still Unassigned. In the meantime, I have taken to clutching my -alder flute- as one clutches the haft of an Axe and practicing my swings. It feels very light, but I must gain Skill. 1st Granite 238 There confused whispering in the halls that Grandfather has been relieved of his duties. Perhaps this is why my Assignment has not gone through? There is also rumor of a new Bossdwarf... one who calls himself "Rock-King." Perhaps word of our brave fight has spread, and Bronzestabbed has been selected as the new Mountainhome!? I must present myself to the Rock-King. When he witnesses my strength of arm, surely His Royal Highness will honor my Grandfather's wish and assign me to the Creations of Luck.

Hah, mixed up your gender and tillerkiwi's there Edited in a slightly better looking teal letter color to that dorfnames picture as well. On the subject of infections, I'm pretty sure how it hurts you is up to chance, modified by your dwarf's stats. Bad Munki has completely average disease resistance, the same for recuperation, and legendary endurance. I'm not sure if the last stat matters for infection. If the infection spreads he may feel unwell and return to the hospital to be cleaned more. His history shows that he was cleaned with soap earlier in the hospital. However the water source used at the time was probably stagnant water which increases the chance of infection, considering the lack of a functioning well. It's also possible that he recovered from his other injuries before being fully cleaned, since dwarves sometimes do that.

Bad Munki clearly should've heeded OhCrap more and used more soap, just as she commanded. But maybe JamieTheD's mister can still be salvaged and his water necromancy can save everyone.

Tonight on Dwarf Fortress Bronzestabbed: Dwarven Medical Drama! I swear, this LP practically writes itself. I put off search for fine axle to address dwarven medical needs. Markus_cz, chief medical dwarf is instructed to inform the skilled dwarves Captain Duck, Kaboom, Natty Ninefingers, Slick Slinky, and Qword that they should not perform non-medical duties for the time being. Several dwarves recommend the fishery worker Tirius to assist with the medical effort. I ask Markus_cz to take her as a medical intern and he agrees. LPer note: 98%+ in all medical aptitudes, what is with fishery workers and medicine in this fort? Shorter than some is also brought on board as nurse to diagnose simple injuries and clean wounds. Of the medical staff he is the only one allowed to leave hospital to rescue wounded. Searching through food stockpile I spot Dallbun, child of Zapdos. Barrel of fine dwarven wine in hand, she drinks away sorrows of lost mother, sibling, and condition of father. I silently commend her effective coping. If only some of the now deceased dwarves I have been told of could have followed her example. I tell Tiler Kiwi she should form a reserve squadron and that she and those on it are effectively off-duty to rest and recuperate. Unofficially they are encouraged to practice with wooden axes and swords to return to the militia at a later date. Fiddler Three is allowed to train on the squadron as requested. I hope that training with his granddaughter will allow Zapdos to rehabilitate faster. I return to the hospital and explain the change in structure to Zapdos, and that he is to change his hammer for wooden crossbow for the time being. He says nothing for a long while, then looks up with cold understanding. He drops his gear next to his bed and says he will trouble Bronzestabbed no longer. The war dogs follow him, preventing me from stopping his slow, determined march out of the hospital. I look up as one of the hospital staff, Slick Slinky walks in and point to Zapdos. He shakes his head and explains that there is nothing he can do, turning his attention to the wounded tanner Magrov. I wonder if he would have remained in the hospital if I didn't relieve him of his military duty, but in his earlier state I feared what would happen if he kept his hammer. 2nd Granite 239 Still Zapdos turns away all attention offered to him. HONK HONK HONK labors to equip the Nets of Charm. 3rd Granite After at least three days of being left alone in the caverns the Armorer M rescues Revenant Threshold, apparently wounded in an encounter with a cave olm. She was seen fully conscious but unable to walk, holding a clump of dirt in her hands in case another creature assailed her. 5th Granite Teddles spins wool into thread as Steke and Nettle Soup finish mining expansion to the farming area. Congojack and Tarox help with the harvest. 7th Granite Up above the medical dwarves are finishing their drinking, eating, and sleeping and beginning to work though I worry they do not make enough haste and come to the hospital to investigate. Little treatment has been done yet, Slick Slinky diagnosing while Qword sutures wounds. Tirius's first patient is The One-Way Outs commander Internet Kraken. In spite of having lost her husband Zaodai to tragedy she is the third medical dwarf to report for duty. I discover Idles shoved under Star Guarded's bed in extremely poor condition. I order the bed removed and both patients relocated immediately. I ask if any is responsible for this and no one claims to know. Zapdos is reported sitting on the ground, motionless, in the middle of his prized forging area, obstructing foot traffic. His dogs try to comfort him but they do not. 8th Granite Qword returns with thread for suturing and Markus_cz for diagnosis and healthcare in general. Markus_cz moves to evaluate the recently rescued Revenant Threshhold while Qword sutures Male Man. Tirius draws fresh, clean water from the newly functional well to wash wounds clean. 9th Granite A cloud of fiendish murk is reported when I finally set aside some time to look for fine axle. It is far from the fort so I pay it little heed even after being informed of its purpose. I am later told it heads south across the river and quickly dissipates. 12th Granite Markus_cz carries Star Guarded to table and begins surgery. This hospital is woefully underequipped so I order additional table placed and additional traction benches constructed. In addition I note that Idles is now sharing a hospital bed with her daughter Male Man. It is a touching gesture but if it interferes with treatment I shall have to have them moved. Zapdos roams slightly but mostly wanders the metalsmithing area and I feel sad. I restart the forges, assigning M to produce armor exclusively. Dwarves grumble of bronze but it is as fine a material as iron for armor, slightly sturdier but moderately heavier. Bronze weapons leave more to be desired. However I have a special task for Vox Nihil. I ask him if he can forge spears well and he says yes. I ask him if he can forge copper spears, but bigger. He says he can. Addendum [The following writing is scratched on hastily and hard to read] I found it! I found the fine axle! It was lying abandoned far to the east and south of the fortress. Perhaps a creature carried it here out of curiosity. I ran to retrieve it. Finally, to be able to assist the moored dwarves! I felt ecstatic! I felt accomplished! I felt...warm? I leapt out of the way just as my prized goal was burnt to cinders and looked up. I must make haste. Rawkking fucked around with this message at 01:02 on Aug 5, 2012 |

This be the entry of one Uspsast Ebnomol Otor Gomux, a minotaur. Bulifo said he were going to the new dwarf hole to find him some dwarf baby for dinner, and that was drat near an entire year ago and now that he's been gone so long, momma's starting to look at me funny and I don't know but I think granny might be getting jealous. I think Bulifo must be swimming in dwarf baby stew by now, so I think I'll take a look at this new dwarf hole and see how if I can find me some of my own dwarf baby back ribs.

So the hillbilly inbred minotaurs decide to celebrate Thanksgiving early this year and set up the ol' deep fryer. Something goes horrible wrong, and perhaps one of the minotaurs has sex with the end result. Thusly, Kovost is born This LP really is writing itself.

At least it isn't a Titan that will go down if it is hit by a stiff breeze like those that are made of liquids or other materials like steam or fire. I bet 4 dwarves killed, 7 injured if you manage to engage it outside. Fort design doesn't have Titan Stopper™ double doors installed so there's no way to keep it from pathing in. I see this getting very sooty. For those who don't know: Building destroyers normally path through locked doors and just demolish them on the way, but two locked doors deep tricks it into thinking it can't path through since beyond the first door is another "impassable" tile.

It's not made from steel or some such bullshit so once you have an axedwarf next to it, it should go down reasonably quick. It might also go into stunlock when it start taking damage, so having the marksdwarfs pelt it before the melee starts could drastically reduce casualties. Fire breath can be dodged and blocked by shields, so make sure everyone has a shield and that you engage it outside. Maybe it gets caught in its own fire.
