Game Review Scoring System

The following is an explanation of how I score games I review.

I use a grade point average (GPA) scale resembling that of most United States educational institutions. The highest grade point average, 4.0, represents “Straight A’s.”

Why don’t I just use A+, A, A-, etc.? By placing scores along a GPA spectrum, I can fine adjust scores as needed. For example, a 3.0 and a 3.1 are both B scores, but I consider a 3.1 higher on the “B” score spectrum. I anchor off the letter grade I think the game deserves, and fine adjust from there.

Use this chart for quick reference. (I certainly hope I don’t ever have to go lower than 1.0…)
