I MAKE VICTORY!

3rd Limestone 238

Maybe Overseer Zapdos does not think of do Revenge. He Orders me to do Train many dwarfs for Own Fine Squad.

I will do my Duty.

Mayor Kaishai does give Soap to me. Maybe not All Dwarfs think I am a Bad Dwarf.

17th Limestone 238

Zaodai crankies of Dead Ventnor and Dead Denty Head i poo poo trains. I do not Blame him to want to do Revenge to me.

19th Limestone 238

Fear of Zaodai! Zaodai bashes at Own Fine Door and crankies! I and Beloved Husband do not Heed for we do not want him to do Revenge. We hear him move on to dormitory down hall. Much crankying is heard!

22nd Limestone 238

Overseer orders Me to take Own Fine Squad to do find Ven-Garr in Spider Cavern. I am Glad to get out of Room and not face cranky Zaodai.

24th Limestone 238

I report of Ven-Garr dead because Troglodytes. Overseer orders to do Revenge on Troglodytes. I and Own Fine Squad do Revenge on Troglodytes.

25th Limestone 238

I and Own Fine Squad find Big Troglodyte! Idles and Own Fine Dog do attack! Baby Male Man is still carried by Idles. Big Troglodyte does do hurt Male Man. Male Man has not recovered from Bad Big Cow. Male Man does live in Much Pain. :smith:

Idles must learn correct use of Baby. Idles must not to do Bad Parent. I and Own Fine Squad do Revenge on Big Troglodyte.

28th Limestone 238

I and Own Fine Squad return to news of Asehujiko dead. I do not think it was Troglodytes. I think it was Zaodai. He did do Revenge Crankies.

1st Sandstone 238

I See Captain of Guard and Squad run past without Own Fine Clothes. Gnu Sheriff in Town carries Own Fine Whip.

I do not Know what is going on Around here. I do not Know what to Think. I do not Know where to Look.

8th Sandstone 238

Zaodai is first Dwarf to do Confine to Room of Justice.

I am surprised that Gnu Sheriff in Town did not do Store Zaodai in Own Fine Cage. It is probably Better for Zaodai this way. I think Zaodai would cranky more if Naked Gnu Sheriff in Town did do Justice in Own Fine Cage with Own Fine Whip. Chickenfrogdwarf seems happy, though. I suppose that to do Hammer Gnu Sheriff in Town is easier without clothes.

12th Sandstone 238

I am surprised no Dwarfs have Remembered to put Ventnor and Denty Head in Own Fine Tombs. I and Chickenfrogdwarf do Recover them. I am glad that Chickenfrogdwarf has Own Fine Clothes. I do not ask of Gnu Sheriff in Town.

15th Sandstone 238

Overseer orders that Gnu Sheriff in Town and Squad put Own Fine Clothes back On because Many dwarfs do Make Complaints. I do not Blame dwarfs that complain of Naked Gnu Sheriff in Town and Naked Ajaxify and Naked Anela Cistine. It is not Public Decency.

25th Sandstone 238

I have not seen Own Fine Dog of War. I Inform Overseer. Overseer orders me to do Find Dog. I take Squad to Spider Cavern.

27th Sandstone 238

A Bad Frog is seen in Spider Cavern! I find Own Fine Dog Dead because Bad Frog. He was a Good Dog. :smith:

I order squad to do Revenge on Bad Frog. Recruit NineofEight attempts to do Revenge to Bad Frog with Own Foot. I am glad that she has another Foot. Recruit Star Guarded does dead Bad Frog. I do Pride at Star Guarded.

28th Sandstone 238

I and Own Fine Squad return from Spider Cavern. New Dwarfs have arrived.
New migrant Juc shows me Own Fine Engraving of Water Necromancer. I Knew it!

3rd Timber 238

Bad Joke returns. :argh:

I am told Ajaxify crankied at Overseer order to put Own Fine clothes back on. Ajaxify is dead. Overseer Zapdos does take Public Decency seriously.

12th Timber 238

I do not think Overseer knows of Lever Floodgate. But perhaps He can make Reservoir fill. I could not. Perhaps it is a Bad Reservoir.

Caravan of Dwarfs approaches Kilrudzat. I think Overseer will be Glad of Crafts I ordered dwarfs to do Make.

17th Timber 238

Goblins approach Kilrudzat! A Goblin is seen riding a Bad Frog. I would be sick if I rode a Bad Frog for it does much Hopping. Overseer shows Wisdom and Locks Doors. I hope that Caravan Meatshield does work. It is an Important defense for Last Hope.

25th Timber, 238

:supaburn: Oh no! :supaburn:

I did think that Overseer had Forgotten to do Revenge. I was Mistaken. Overseer Zapdos smiled at me and husband and said he would do make Own Fine Tomb to Office.

I am So Dead.

To add my 2 cents to the whole image size thing, I think the absolute greatest choice would be to have cropped, full-zoom images. They're clear, easy to read, don't stretch resolutions, and you can focus our attention. I'm a DF vet, but I go cross-eyed when someone posts a full-sized screenshot of a specific scene; I might as well be playing Where's Waldo.

To make such shots, I cannot recommend Snagit enough. At full disclosure we have a corporate license with them at my work, and it does cost money, but the free trial would cover a full turn without problem

The main benefit, aside from being able to take screenshots of portions of your screen, is it keeps all the images in a nice history gallery that you can annotate and then save all at once.

I'm lucky enough to have a license for Snagit too. It is invaluable. It can be difficult while in the thick of updates to pick out what will look best, but I'm just speaking from my own experience given that it was my first attempt.

I've mentioned before that I kept my original screenshots (resized on the fly with Rightload), so the sizes for my ones could be retroactively fixed. I'm not terribly keen to go back through my updates, but I may yet do so.

Leperflesh
May 17, 2007

Autumn 238
Another migrant oversees Bronzestabbed. There have been casualties. It is a surprise that casualties have mostly been due to combat below and not evil influences outdoors. A dwarf Zaodai, aggrieved by the loss of several kin, is imprisoned for murder.

The ramps which might have supported minecart construction are destroyed. The great hall that is the heart of Bronzestabbed is defaced and misshapen. The nicely rounded corners of several workshop and storage areas are hewn to make an ugly square opening where military dwarfs will train amidst constant foot traffic of civilians and cats.

I keep records and will not grumble. It was my duty to establish life and teach the purpose and then step aside. Now it is my duty to keep records and advise only when asked.

It will be enough. There is sufficient bronze although recently I saw a naked soldier. I checked the stockpile records and found no shortage. It is not my place to order because it would be a contradiction of the overseer which is an undermining of authority not to be tolerated.

However an authority allowed goblins to breed at Ripewhips.

I must trust Sankis' judgement and be silent.

I could not get a drink today.

While I do prefer the thumbnails since I browse windowed rather than full screen, any image under 1024px in width shouldn't be a problem for most people, and 800px fits on anything(though that'd be a fairly old PC I think).

Of course, cropped images work best but it IS a lot of work to do over the course of an overseership.

1st Moonstone, 238

Winter has come. Goblins are still here but still have not moved. I have allowed the door to be unlocked but have forbidden all dwarves from moving past the trade depot. We might as well trade while we can.

2nd Moonstone, 238

Scratch that, some of our military don't realize that they too must stay indoors. Not patrol outside where there are goblins.

In any case the merchants have announced that they are about to leave. It is unfortunate.

4th Moonstone, 238

Dwarves have reported not seeing a stray cavy boar for a week. Obviously he is stuck outside with the other animals, and probably unharmed as goblins apparently pacifists now.

6th Moonstone, 238

Main hall successfully fixed. Some smoothing is still required.

Area near dining hall will feature our forges. It is good for dwarves to see the production of the metal and weapons our fortress is named after.

Additionally the reservoir is nearly ready to be filled. I am told that it will not fill up to the second level as the water pressure is not high enough. I have ordered it to be dug deeper.

9th Moonstone, 238

Merchants have left. Hopefully they will take care of the goblins on their way out.

10th Moonstone, 238

Alcohol supply has stabilized but is still low.

HiHo ChiRho and new-comer Araganzar work ceaselessly, but Araganzar is much less skilled than John Dough who is doing nothing.

I talked to manager Leperfish to see if the stills can be reserved for the experts. He assures me this can be done.

15th Moonstone, 238

John Dough and HiHo ChiRho are together making drinks. Good.

New forge area slowly being constructed.

Stockpile areas will be needed nearby. Will have to wait until miners are done with reservoir.

17th Moonstone, 238

OhCrap still unhappy after loss of Ezum. Thought tomb might cheer her up but it didn't.

She also complained of sleeping in the grass lately. I told her she had her own bedroom and is allowed to sleep in it.

18th Moonstone, 238

Construction of floor of new barracks goes slowly even with more masons.

The many dwarves standing around doing nothing asked to assist.

Merchants are still here. Told they brought many items and it will take weeks to pack it all up. This makes failure to trade hurt even more.

(OOC: 39 more pages of stuff)

20th Moonstone, 238

Own son Black Griffon awoke from sleep with strange look in his eye.

He drowsily stumbled down hallway to a craftdwarf's workshop.

He immediately started shouting for logs, tanned hides, rock blocks, yarn cloth, and metal bars.

Somehow we have run out of wood. There is a stockpile outside but I will not risk opening the door again. Must venture into caverns to obtain more. I alert the military.

Forge area complete, stockpiles placed. Now to move everything from entrance floor.

23rd Moonstone, 238

Military heads down to caverns to protect woodcutters.

Barracks floor is finished thanks to new temporary mason force.

28th Moonstone, 238

Alert! The merchants report sighting a giant bull-like monster, similar to the one that killed Moonwalk. I am glad we are already inside but I fear if the merchants leave or are killed it will break through the doors.

It rushes towards the trade depot. Hopefully merchants are ready.
