Artists 

Scott Detweiler is an American composer and lyricist born and raised in New Orleans. He began his musical journey at age 17 on guitar and studied jazz guitar at Loyola University (New Orleans) with Bill Huntington, followed by music composition at the University of New Orleans. After leaving UNO he studied orchestration as a private pupil of Ellis Marsalis in Ellis' home. He also studied writing and arranging for strings with Henry Mancini and Pulitzer Prize nominee Dr. Albert Harris, as well as composing for film and television with Earle Hagen. Detweiler has shared the bill with many artists including The Neville Brothers, The Preservation Hall Jazz Band and The Allman Brothers Band. He has worked with several dance companies as a collaborating composer and as composer in residence.

The Chamber Players of Los Angeles is a group of musicians from all walks of life who are committed to the performance of new and familiar repertoire for chamber ensemble. Formed in 2006 as the Los Angeles Chamber Players, the group has performed in Echo Park, East Los Angeles, Carson, Santa Monica, Eagle Rock and Ontario. Recent programs include a concert of international music featuring Prokofiev and Piazolla and a recital of new and familiar works by American composers. The CPLA is honored to be a part of the Music in Sacred Spaces series at the Church of the Good Shepherd in Arcadia. 


As with all evening Fireside performances, doors will open at 7:15pm and the performance will begin at 8pm. Tickets are $5 for youth/seniors and $10 for adults. For reservations call (310) 458-8634 or email milesplayhouse@smgov.net.
