Juan Colon

National Director of Opioid and Illicit Drug Solutions, SAS

Juan Colon retired from the New Jersey State Police with 28 years of law enforcement experience. He focused on intelligence tradecraft, using big data to improve decision making in public safety and public health. Colon also developed and implemented an analytical process for using drug harm data sets to help identify areas most severely affected by drugs. He has trained many states on implementing this program, as well as the Office of the US Attorney General, the Bureau of Justice Assistance, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the National Governors Association and the Police Executive Research Forum. The White House Office of National Drug Control Policy’s National Heroin Strategy report also included it as a recommended strategy to confront the heroin problem.

Advisory Business Development Specialist, Public Safety & National Security

Mario is Advisory Business Development Specialist covering Public Safety & National Security in Latin America. He joins SAS after leaving his role as Sales Director for Mexico for Cognyte Software, a software intelligence company based on Israel. He is a Telematics Engineer with +20 years of experience in the field of information technology focused on intelligence. He worked for more than 15 years in the Mexico’s federal government in areas of civil intelligence in the design, development and implementation of various high-impact projects at the national level in areas such as secure communications, information and communication technologies, infrastructure and intelligence fusion. In the private sector, he has held directive positions focused on business growing and sale of technological solutions. Mario lives in Mexico City with his wife Viridiana, his daughters Luciana (5) and Carolina (2) and the family adopted dog called Soraya.
