Better to offend than allow yourself to be placed in an uncompromising position!

uncompromising

When people say stuff like:

If you love me you will.....

You're not my friend if you don't.....

If you [are against / don't support / don't do] [whatever] you are a [whatever]

They are using a well know tactic that has a high success rate. The tactic is meant to place you in an uncompromising position. A position where there are no adjustment for differences; where no concessions are made; where there is no flexible bargaining; no give and take; an unyielding position.

These people should be resisted at all cost. They want something from you and they are willing to do anything to get it. They don't care about you nor do they care about your situation or position. These people are very manipulative. They are not willing to negotiate and their ends justify their means.

If you don't know what that feels like or if you disagree with this debate, try choosing the opposing view below.

Oh, I agree with this whole heartedly! People with an agenda do this all the time. Once you start feeling guilty, you've lost. This works great with children. Beware who teaches your children moral values. Specifically, keep an eye on public schools.

I could not agree more! People that can't win through any other means or who want to take shortcuts use this tactic all the time. Once you start feeling guilty, you've lost. This works great with children. Beware who teaches your children moral values. Specifically, keep an eye on public schools.

sure, but it seems a bit drastic.

like if you're married with three kids. you have a happy relationship, and one time your wife says, "if you loved me you'd change your socks," you should "avoid her at all costs?"

Really, let's not get carried away here.

OK, I'll give you that one ;)

But she wouldn't say that.
