Hello,

again I have a critical problem with SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP3 (with all updates available through "Check for updates" option in application menu).

I have a couple of translated xlsx files and when trying to generate target translations I get error saying "object reference not set to instance of object" (but in Polish since my OS is Polish). For each file I get two error messages:
- one with origin: "Sdl.FileTypeSupport.Framework.Adapter.Framework1.Writer"<

Hello,

again I have a critical problem with SDL Trados Studio 2009 SP3 (with all updates available through "Check for updates" option in application menu).

I have a couple of translated xlsx files and when trying to generate target translations I get error saying "object reference not set to instance of object" (but in Polish since my OS is Polish). For each file I get two error messages:
- one with origin: "Sdl.FileTypeSupport.Framework.Adapter.Framework1.Writer"
- and the second one: "Generate Target Translations"
Each of these files contains one worksheet with one column with text.

Any idea what is causing this error and how to avoid it?

Without possibility to create target translations Trados becomes completely unusable :-/

In our previous projects I always have converted xlsx files to txt, because Trados seems to be working fairly well with this basic file format. After creating target translation I only needed to paste the contents of txt files back into the source xlsx. This time it was impossible, because contents of the files got messed up during convert->convert->paste process.

Below you can check error details:

So it seems that again this expensive piece of software can't even perform its basic functions and nobody knows why... nice :-/

short term workaround May 13, 2011

I too have had this message.

As an inconvenient workaround you can right-click the translation units and change the translation status to translated. (You can also apply this to a batch of translation units). You can then move through the document using ctrl+down arrow and periodically update the translation status of translated units.

Still a pain in the derriere through!

Any solutions yet? Jul 6, 2011

Same problem here.
I went through all suggestions published in this forum but to no avail. This is what I tried so far:

0. Suggestion to upgrade to SP2/3 does not apply to me.

1. I checked the Worksheet names - they are all left unchanged.

2. I have deleted Trados configuration files as suggested by Trados support, or even renamed entire SDL folders to xxxx_old. Trados did generate new config folders/files, but the error remained the same.

3. I tried to save the file in xlxs format - without macros, translated this file, but when generating target translation, I had the same error again.

4. I tried to save the file in xls format - the same error again.

5. I switched off tag verification completely and used the "skip worksheet name" option - the same error again.

If anyone can think of anything else I could do, please help. Thank you in advance.

Looking for a solution urgently Jul 12, 2012

Exact same situation here as described in the last post and I'm on a deadline (nothing unusual I suppose).
Any progress on this situation?
