About the author

Brendan Heard appeared over the Nile one summer day, floating and shimmering as did the cosmic egg over the black water of Nu at the beginning of time.
And he was heard at that time to say:
'Lo! I am Born with Ra.'
And as the sun floated upon the water's breast, he was with Ra then, as he was with Nu. And when Brendan, according to his desire, uttered the deep thoughts of his mind, that which he named had being. When he gazed into space, that which he desired to see appeared before him.
And he went out among men; he took form like unto theirs, and to him the centuries were as years.

- Reviewed in the United States on July 24, 2021A first novella from a talented writer, from whom we can expect much more. The author’s definitely a fan of old-school science fiction and fantasy from the days of yore. The Dream God is an interesting book, and an enjoyable read. Definitely has a Dune kind of vibe, but in a more Roman, or a more Classical setting – extended out into our solar system far in the future. The only disappointment was that I couldn’t immediately move on to the next book in the series, but rumor has it that’s already in the works, so it shouldn’t be long now before the next volume is released!
- Reviewed in the United States on July 27, 2021I picked up this book via kindle because the title seemed interesting, and was not disappointed! The novella concerns a story set in the far future, in an alternative timeline where the Roman Empire never dissolved, and went on to forge a solar empire.
It contains themes of classical philosophy as well as plenty of action. If I was to liken it to a sub genre I would say Sword and Sorcery fits best. It’s short, but leaves open the possibility of a sequel, which I will eagerly read if the author releases one.

- Reviewed in the United States on April 10, 2022I picked this up on the recommendation of a friend and it was a thrilling science-fiction adventure that has a lot to say about typically unsaid things. A very cool genre and setting that deserves more tales!

- Reviewed in the United States on June 7, 2021Picture a distant future where a single government led by Julius Ceaser rules all the earth with plans to conquer the entire galaxy.
He sends his armies and administrators to conquer the planets to great success. However, a strange discovery is made on planet Neptune: The godstream. This is a stream of spores that grants supernatural powers and the Rex who governs Neptune would rather keep it to himself. It's not an easy secret to keep and soon he is questioned about it by the highest authority. The future of humanity will be shaped by this godstream. Whatever the council decides to do with it, there will be consequences.

5.0 out of 5 stars The Dream God
Was not expecting what I just read. Absolutely bloody fantastic. Is this a story, a work of fiction? It reads like the testament of someone who has witnessed a miracle. A hoped for future rebirth. Hail Thoth.

5.0 out of 5 stars Magnificently imaginative
Science fiction in Kindle Unlimited is overwhelmingly dominated by military scifi. Most of it is almost exactly the same as any other.
This book is NOTHING like that.
I was captivated within a page and didn't stop until I'd finished.
Imagine a solar system where the Western Roman Empire had never adopted Christianity, had never fallen but had gone on to colonise the entire solar system.
Where the technology is high but vastly different to what we're used to.
We follow the adventures of a legatus as he follows his tribune to Neptune for a conference.
I won't say more it would spoil it for you.
Two criticisms:
It's too short, more of a novella than a novel.
There is some grammatical confusion at times that interrupts the flow. I would advise the author to read up on singular plural mismatches and the use of Latin words adopted into English.
Apart from that I loved it and look forward to reading more.
